I perform multiple roles at a tire/service shop, phone conversation with a (younger male) customer the other day:

"Thank you for calling (my workplace), this is Cody, how can I help you?"

"Hi, I need to get tires."

"Ok, can you tell me your tire size please?"

"I'm not sure"

"Alright, well, what's the year, make and model of the vehicle?"

"... I don't know... It's white"

"... Ohhh K."

"Maybe I should call you back with that information."

"Yeah, that would be helpful, thanks."

I think we all consider ourselves, at least to some extent, 'car people', myself included, so when I encounter somebody like this, my mind has a hard time coping with it. It's incredible.

I guess there are still a lot of people who wouldn't know that there are different stock tire sizes. You don't know til you know...

You don't know what size tires he has? It's a white car, man. It's pretty obvious.

Seriously, what a fucking moron.

This long, weary battle, has finally turned in our favor.

Sometimes I hate the swear filter. This is awesome.

Probably the hardest I've laughed at a single comment on here.

It's just putting text color code in the word to dodge the filter, you'll get points for it.

Ever try to get a non-car person to explain a noise? It's like pulling teeth, and then they get mad when you don't hear what they described. On a road test, they point out the noise, only for it to be totally opposite of anything they described!

Apparently it was a brake pad that was laying in the road

I'm sitting in the dealership for the Forester recall notice for the middle seat belt a while back and I hear this phone call while I sit in the lobby waiting for my car. This is one sided but I know how it goes because I used to manage a call center a few years ago

Service Technician: Hey so I need my password reset.

Service Technician: What do you mean which password? It's my password.

Service Technician: Umm well it's the password I use everyday.

Service Technician: I'll have to check what my user name is. Usually it's written on a piece of paper taped onto the computer.

Some people always think the help desk knows what you're talking about especially when you're that vague. Sometimes it's like people calling think help desk agents have ESP or something. My mind has never had a hard time coping with it nor did my coworkers because we were all laughing at how, to say politely, funny the caller was.

It's not incredible by any standard. It's pretty standard stuff. Everyone has their dumb moments, tire technicians included.

People amaze me everyday! I use to be a Yamaha mechanic ( I have some great pics of internally used Jb weld fixes and custom this and that in side motor cases and transmissions) I'll post once I can.

Customer comes in complaining of a vibration on his 3 series BMW.

Well duuuhhh!...... I run my own wheel straightening company, and that was by far one of the worst wheels I have seen that wasn't cracked.

Looked like a rectangular egg.

Winter is really taking its toll on the roads around me.
People behind me must think I'm drunk or something, with the way I'm always dodging smart car sized potholes.

At least the "weight" is right behind the spoke so you can't see it.

Sometimes taking your car to your "mechanic friend" isn't the best idea.

Some funny stuff in here...and I see a lot of the "I have no more faith in humanity" replies....have you ever worked in EMS? that takes away your faith in humanity. Rough day at work? I'll get drunk and jump off my buddies truck at ~30 to end it all...then he survives, fractured his skull in 3 places, was siezing when we were leaving the hospital and walked around for a year in a helmet...drinking at the bar all along with his helmet. That took away my faith in humanity when my co worker who had him with me said she saw that
