Default GT30R... Sleeve built motor or not?

Hey guys,

Im building a hybrid and will be rinning a GT3076R on it with .82 exhaust housing.

I want to know at what bhp/torque you guys sleeve your motors and at what boost will i be safe on my block from that turbo?

What about o-ringing the heads too?

What are your thoughts?

you will be fine, most people sleeve at above +500whp

Leave the heads stock imho, your gains will be negligible with your setup )it's not like you are going for dyno records with that turbo)

What boost will the stock liners and gaskets take from the 30R dude?

To sleeve a 30R motor you must be expecting some heavy duty knock. Just my opinion.

Well here in the UK if you run a stock EJ257 block over 450bhp and 450ftlbs then its said to be on the limits of bursting a stock liner.

a 30R is capable of over 500bhp... so should i sleeve or not? Surely its the cylinder pressures created by boost of over 2 bar from that turbo will murder the liners... or not?

This is the thing, i hear so many conflicting opinions and i dont know who or what to belive.

I do like sleeving but having it done right is the problem.

I don't recommend sleeves to most of my customers simply because a lot of times the added cost isn't needed. In your case of only 450-500bhp I would say you are fine without them.

Just my $.02,
Micah

you should really be fine. You'll be around 30psi on I'm assuming an otherwise built EJ257.

What CR are you planning to run? If you are going to run a high CR, that could change my opinion on the matter.

Approx 9:1, i wont know till i measure on build and also have the edges taken off of the combustion chambers on the 2ltr heads.

It will have wiseco pistons, carrello rods, ACL bearings and ARP headstuds. Stock cams and valvetrain.
All i was going to do regarding head sealing was have the heads decked for flatness and use the OEM subaru 1.6mm headgaskets. Although i hear conflicting opinions on head stud torques too
