CAI on the NA motors an issue?
Just want to confirm...CAIs are fine as a direct bolt-on to an NA motor without EM or anything else (unlike WRXs), correct?

plenty of NA subies running around with short rams and cai's. EM can only help, but is not necessary.

Would you be able to link me to some companies that have EM for the NA scoobs?

Rallitek's Perfect Power
AND ProECM (Sold by ImprezaRS.com) There is also the 'Torque Chip' but am not sure who sells them. Hope this helps. |

np. People who have tried the Rallitek are pleased with it, but you are going to be paying much more than what you'd be paying for the proecm. You can usually find a used proecm here and there for about 100-150 bucks.

Are the chips really a worthwhile mod if you don't have bolt-ons?

I'm curious what other peoples takes are on Lethargic's question, but I would say no. If you are going to buy a chip for your NA car, you should AT LEAST have some basic mods, exhaust, intake etc...

I would imagine it's a little difficult to answer if it's worthwhile. I'm assuming that it does what it says it does, improves airflow. Therefore, I'm also going to assume that it can improve stock airflow. I guess it's MORE worthwhile if you have boltons, but I'm just wondering if you would feel (butt dyno) any worthwhile improvements running stock.

Rallitek's PerfectPower adds 10 peak HP to an otherwise stock 2005 RS. I think that's worth it even if the PP is your only power mod. If you decide to add an intake and/or an exhaust after the PP, you can always change the maps to suit your mods in the future. So, I disagree with anyone that says engine management is not worth it if you don;t have other mods.

The intakes I can think of:
Cobb PRM (I think Cobb rebadges PRM as theirs, but not sure) GanzFlow K&N Injen SPT/Subaru (HKS) GravelSports (group buy only, very rarely - it looks like a TMIC, sitting on top, in orange) Rallispec (not in production anymore) PDM-Racing used to make a $50 version of the Ganz--and I own a PDM--but they don't seem to carry them anymore. =S2= |

That's the generic pic from their homepage. Under "products" only the '00-'01 Impreza is listed, and there's no price on there. It says "call." =S2= |

Question about the perfect power w/ tuner package:
Would this be enough engine management to create a reliable setup w/ a turbo on a 2.5NA engine? |

Just got off the horn with PRM. That pic is a generic, indeed. Our application looks not surprisingly like a COBB, as that's what it is. COBB has exclusive rights to this design's sale in the states, though, so this one's out of the running.

sko, the PP is probably one of the better, if not the best EM for the N/A engine...however I think theres a newer EM (made by Rallitek) made for the newer turbos, maybe that could work also?
