The RI skid guard protects the front bumper cover and reaches back to about where the radiator is. Coupled with a full skid plate, you have full protection of the front end.
What are your issues with the 06-07 light bar? Mine has been perfect and the design is basically the same as the 04-05. |

The 04-07 light bar shares the same mounting design except for a slight difference in the hardware. Have you tried adjusting the bump stops to ensure they rest on the bumper? It sounds like there's something wrong with your setup.
Also, when did you order your bar? Did you try contacting RI with your concerns? |

I bought it in early '06. I never contacted them because I didn't put it on for a few weeks (maybe even months). Jacob |

Well it sounds like there's an issue with yours, as the bar should sit right on the bumper with the rubber bump stops. It's as stable as the 04-05. If you still have the bar and it still has the same issues, you should contact them and see what they say.

^^sounds like u should be calling RI instead of complaining about the parts you bought to other people. could just be a simple fix.

Think I'm going to go with the Primitive 3/16 stuff myself (sump/diff guard). The cars going to be mainly on tarmac to rough tarmac and occasionally dirt. I've encountered plenty of rocks though more then capable of tearing nice holes in oil pans, especially if hit with any kind of force simply just strewn across even the nicely paved tarmac back roads here. I've been fortunate enough to avoid this stuff myself for the most part but long oil trail stains on many of the roads are left behind by lots of others who haven't been as fortunate. And if your out in the middle of nowhere with no help around an empty oil pan is not a good thing.
Other stuff I would be interested in if someone started making it would be a prop shaft guard of some sort, and maybe some less expensive floor/fender well protection as the carbon kevlar stuff is sort of out of the budget haha. I may just try and see why I can come up with in the line of some floorboard protection in a less exotic material. -Anthony |

I got mine in February and it fits snug. It started to rust a little on the underside, but after all, I am in the rust belt. I cleaned it up and put some rust bullet on it. Seriously though, contact RI and I bet they'll help you out. You might have to send a few pic's to help them diagnose the issue. |

I was trying to post to contribute to the NABISCO community, but if the overwhelming response is that I'm not contributing (and since this is a thread on skid plates, I agree), I'll just get out of this thread. Sound good? Jacob |

Probably going to order one this week before the snow hits and the roads are covered with sand and salt.

FYI, Primitive Racing got back to me... Pretty sure I'll just go with a spacer and no holes on the plate. Better aerodynamics and protection that way. I'm already under the car with a wratchet to change the oil so 4 bolts to remove the plate shouldn't be an issue.
Gonna wait for Wicked Innovations and RallyArmor to get back to me before I make a decision. Quote:

does anyone know how or if skidplates affect the air flow from the tmic? some of them look like they go far enough back to raise the pressure under the tmic impeding airflow

I've always though a good idea for a skid plate would be to have hole for access to the oil drain and filter covered by small plates bolted on that could just be rotated out of the way for an oil change, then rotated back and bolted in place when done. Anyone know if that exists?
Also anyone have any fitment issues with skidplates and aftermarket headers? |

Yeah I am pretty sure those are available but I think it weakens the overall strength of the plate. It's only 5 13mm bolts to take it off. I have a Fumoto valve that doesn't get in the way either.

RalliTEK vs. Primative skidplate
I've read just about every post I can find regarding skid-plates on NASIOC and DirtyImpreza. I'm split between the RalliTEK because of the side spash plates and the Primative because of value and the available rear differential skid-plate.
What are peoples experience with the RalliTEK on the 2008+ Impreza? Does it seem to collect more or less road grim on top of the plate? Has anyone, or will Paul, weld a lip onto the sides of the Primitive plate to help keep debris kicked up from the tires out of the engine bay? (no I haven't sent him an email yet) The last time I went down an unmaintained dirt road in my OBS the sound of the brush hitting the undercarriage of my car was unnerving. |

I also had the Primitive plate on my 02 WRX and it was great. WAY thicker than the Rallitek plate, MUCH better fitment/design, and it kept crap out of the engine bay just as good as the Rallitek plate with the side panels. Even though they were different applications, I was much happier with Primitive's product. I'd definitely recommend the Primitive plate over the Rallitek crap. |

+1 for Paul at Primitive. He's a serious rally driver who knows how to make competition grade hardware.

Yeah, it was obvious that the Rallitek plate is just made to look like a skid plate, and the Primitive one could actually take some abuse.

Anybody running one of these skid plates with an aftermarket subframe? Just wondering if they will still fit or if it would be better to just make one from scratch.
