You'd have to mold it in for it to come close to look decent.

nor do the front Sti "splitters" or any other wing that is put on a street car. I'm just playing around with the idea as far as looks go, not performance.

But at least most wings and splitters and other aerodynamic devices on cars like that, whether they're functional or not, are in such a location as to look like they'd work. Vortex generators on a wagon spoiler would not ever do anything at all, as that is not the point of a vortex generator. You'd have aerodynamicists looking at you thinking "dumbass"

What makes you think they don't work? The reason for a splitter on a car or specifically a "vortex generator" on a sedan is to deal with the issue of airflow as it passes over the rear windscreen and the trunk. A wagon does not have these issues as much. Nor does Subaru use their wagon as a time trial model, so they are not going to invest in the research to figure out if the wagon needs anything like that. And how does this pertain to us... the average joe drivers on the street? It doesn't. So do what ever you want. You will not notice a difference... at least with a vortex generator on an EVO... it is proven, on a track, at high speed!

There is a reason that Mistubishi and Subaru designers put these devices on their cars... it may not matter that much to us but when they want to get their stock off-the-shelf flagship performance car around a track (Nurburgring) a few 1/100ths of a second faster that the previous year's model they are going to add a few wings and air foils among other tweaks. The engineers want bragging rights... it's a very healthy rivalry among the Japanese manufacturers.

you are saying that the little bulges on the front bumper cover are going to create downforce and make the car more stable at higher (unsafe) speeds on the street? I think not!

I never said on the street. I said on the track. The whole point is to get their street car to go faster around the track. And it has to be the street car they test. It ultimately has no bearing on what we common folks do in the street... re-read my post.

I recently had to camoflauge a preproduction vehicle and decided to put them on to see what it looked like. It actually looked halfway decent. I can't take picture of it since the car isn't released yet, but mock it up and see if you like it.

Photoshop is your friend. Have someone photoshop the evo spikes onto your wagon, and then print the picture. Leave it in your car, and every time you get in, look at it. If you still love it after a week--go for it. Performance be damned if you like it. It'd be very unique too. It's not going to hurt anything by being there, at least.

Aerodynamics The MY06 Impreza STI features a completely revised aerodynamic
package compared to the previous MY05 model. Additions include a WRC look front
bumper which generates frontal downforce, also front corner spoilers and grilles.
These components provide air extraction from the area behind the front bumper,
and improve the airflow down the side of the car. The new roof vane combines
with the rear diffuser and boot spoiler dramatically improves the aerodynamics
for improved stability and handling. The roof vane catches the airflow from the
roof and directs it to the rear spoiler thereby enhancing its performance. The
rear diffuser smooths the airflow under the car helping to create a smooth
airflow on exit. The co-efficient of lift (CL) performance has improved from
minus 0.045 to minus 0.075. (Greater down force) which is a 67%
improvement on the MY05 model

do it for looks but dont go thinking it has no effect, positive or negative, on airflow around the car.
