Here is a nice build we completed a few weeks ago on a 2008STi. The customer wanted to take advantage of the Dom4 turbocharger on the car. He opted for our ML500+ shortblock rebuild package and then we went to work on the heads as well. With the flow rating on this turbo we went with the more aggressive 220-C grind which offers a 272/268 duration and hefty 11.30mm(Intake)/10.50mm(exhaust) lift. Only thing not opted for on the heads was the port work we offer!

This particular customer had bought the car 2nd hand with the current modifications, but a stock motor. Not a wise choice on the part of the first owner. After having some fun he noticed smoke out of the tail pipe and sluggish response with lack of power. Now he has everything needed to enjoy a reliable 500WHP in his 2008STi!

First trip on the dyno showed a weak fuel pump so we had to swap to a DW300 fuel pump. Now we have totally maxed out the EV14 based DW 1000CC top feed injectors, but it should be enough power to hold him over for now. The Dom4 does feel a little laggy, but it pulls quite nicely once boost has hit. We were seeing peak boost at around 4500 on lower boost and 4800 with the extra boost.

Final HP/TQ with AFR graph (Blue high boost 24psi, Red low boost 18psi):

Why only rev to 7,000 with the upgraded cams/valves/springs?

The injectors were around a ~90% duty cycle on the 1000CC injectors so we didn't have enough fuel to try and keep pushing. Power had began falling off anyways, I don't think this stock location set-up has much left in it! Something like a PTE6262 or GTX3582 w/ .82A/R would have a much different looking power band thanks to the larger turbine housing allowing the set-up to move air more efficiently with equal spool. Torque would be flatter, and power would peak later.

Great power for stock location though!

Thanks,
Alex Goodwin

To be honest, the power looks exciting, but the lag isn't very exciting .

5th gear is closest to 1:1 which is important to consider as we were testing with inertia only. Had we tested in 4th gear, power figures would have been artificially inflated by the gear ratio.
