Has anyone heard of needing to break down dual valve springs to 1 when using kelford 199-c (272) for break in??
along with the low 15-2k idle for 15-20 min or whatever it says Im using some used supertech dual valve springs/ti retainers (70 spring rate) with my new build, and was wondering how important this was/ how necessary with using 1 of the 2 springs for break in, then putting the 2nd spring back on after break in. edit, nvm, found this article that says yes: ttp://www.camshaftshop.com/kelford-cams-flat-tappet-camshaft-breakin-procedure.php and this that rec. their single spring http://www.camshaftshop.com/products.php?productid=1035 Last edited by Irv Weissmanhowerton; 11-21-2012 at 03:12 PM. |

Fuel Update:
Started pulling out the factory fuel lines and before you know it, everything was ripped out and ready to put the new setup in place! Replacement Components: Russell "Pro Classic" fuel lines(-8 feed and -6 return) Fuelab "Prodigy Series" 41401-c in-line fuel pump Fuelab in-line fuel filters w/ stainless steel filters Aluminium surge tank With all of these components in place, we will finally be able to push the engine to 28psi while maintaining safe AFRs on E85 which requires around 30% more than using 93 octane pump gas so the stock fuel system can not handle what we are trying to accomplish! Here are a few pictures of the fuel lines and Fuelab in-line pump "power wire" from the engine bay back to the trunk where the fuel lines are are gonna ran to the surge tank and new lines are also being ran from the in-tank pump assembly to the surge tank! |

hey baseball I hate to point this out but in my opinion it is not really safe or wise to run your fuel lines inside the pass. compartment under the carpet and that close to your electrical wires for your pump. You are just asking for trouble and if something bad does happen your car is going to burn to the ground really quickly.BTW it would be different if your lines were done in hard stainless.

The lines are also not in direct contact anywhere in the cabin for safety reasons. The new lines are ran in the same exact placement as the stock lines under hard plastic casing and the power wire is ran above the plastic to avoid any concerns. The closest the 2 come to contact is in the rear of the vehicle where I will be covering the fuel lines with an additional shielding material! I have been dealing with automotive electrical systems for a good amount of time and would cut corners for ease of installation if it sacrifices safety |

Scca rules mandate any fluid lines inside the passenger compartment must be of stainless steel construction. We cut about 25lbs off of the trans-am car, but one place we couldn't use starlite kevlar/nomex was the passenger compartment. Not saying either way which is better, just informing you what racing organizations say in case you ever want to get into more than just drag strip

It's funny they would even have that rule when the fastest you go in autocross is probably what? Around 50mph? But I can go to the drag strip and run 130+mph with no questions asked? lol |

By the 'track' you guys mean the 'strip' right? Because, imo, a 'track' generally has left and right turns and you sometimes have to decelerate and downshift.
I know that's a foreign concept to you guys but still, BeaveRun (or Pitt Race Complex) is right in our backyards. Hell, even Nelson Ledges RC is just over an hour away. I'd love to see what kind of lap times some of these super fast Suby's run. |

This is America, everyone has the right to there own opinions! I was brought up a drag racer and always will be, to each there own. I've been to SCCA courses that you don't even break the speed limit, that ain't racing lol. I wouldn't mind getting my GTR on a big road course though. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Nate TPG |

I agree with you Nate, autocross isn't the greatest but around here it's all I have unfortunately. I am really excited to get out on some road courses though. I would be willing to try out the drag strip one day, if not I'd go just to watch Dave. |

Beautiful car and set up man. I have a GT35R on my set up but never got the balls to really tune her up. But after seeing your video and how much fun you seem to have building it, I'm going to give my a little push. Thanks for sharing.
