She had a good run. RIP
Time for some ground rules: Rule #1: $9,999.99 limit. If you could theoretically buy the car for that (IE asking price $12,500 OBO) then go ahead and post it. If the average price of the car falls under that limit, but this one build is just sooooo cool, go ahead and post it. The intent is for the majority of the cars posted to be under $10,000. Rule #2: Don't be a dick. This has been one of the best threads on OT, let's keep it that way. No fighting, period. Rule #3: Don't be a dick. If somebody posts up a car that they are interested in buying ie: "Hey, might go look at this car, what does OT think?" Don't just run out, buy it and tease the guy thinking about it. Shoot them a pm, express interest in the thread. A simple "You know, that looks like a great deal and I have wanted one too, mind if I look at it as well?" goes a long way. Yes, in the end money talks, but we can at least be civil about it. After all, we are all here because of a shared interest. Rule #4: The thread is about cars. Again, occasional offshoots into motorcycles, boats, trucks etc.... is ok, just keep the focus on the cars. Rule #5: Let's define "vintage" as 20 years. Again, occasional offshoots into newer stuff is ok as long as it's sporty / future classic etc.... Rule #6: Let's define "sporty". Kind of a tough one. It's like pornography, you know it when you drive it. Again, the occasional offshoots into land barges will be tolerated since that thread kind of died on the vine. Personally I think that bikes should be divested to another thread. Only because so many of them are beneath the $9,999 price ceiling.
And I'm not into bikes, but that's just a selfish reason. |

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hlight=vintage I am into bikes, but think they deserve their own thread besides the motorcycle thread, because I don't give a isht about new bikes. |

Bikes aren't going to be posted anymore. I was the only one posting bikes and that was only because I was searching for parts. That search has ended.

Motion to start the new thread off with a statement that swiping a car that another OTter is looking at is a dick move?

and to tease myself with all the cool cars I'd love to buy if I had a 10 car garage with a 1 bedroom, 1 bath located above it...lol
Seconded, but also agree that they potential buyer should be stating clearly that they are going to attempt to purchase. |

Regarding sniping...
If someone posts a CL ad for a car and another poster is in the area and also searching then they ought to be civil about it. A simple "Hey Steve, that car looks awesome. I'm in the market too. How serious are you about buying it? PM me" and take it to PM. Regarding cool cars... 1966 Corvair Convertible - $6500 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/5058272118.html |

If somebody posts up a car that you are interested in then shoot them a PM. We are all (mostly) adults (ish) Let's treat each other with some respect. Same goes the other way, if you post up something that you are interested in but then lose interest, edit your post / let people know if they pm'd. |

That would be the respectful thing to do...and should be common sense.

New thread, time to shamelessly show off my Datsun.
Lil' nephew immediately reached for my just installed Momo steering wheel when I sat him down. Makes me proud. With his dad. Roadster after a quick wash: Yes I need to finish my interior. I was too busy enjoying it this spring but hope to finish it soon. |

Here's the Datsun roadster I was going to post in the other thread.
Seems like a pretty good deal. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/5065469292.html Seems like they did a good amount of work recently and there aren't any glaring needs. Drive it and have fun. |

Agreed,
There are some cool builds out there that should be in here. The spirit of the thread is $9,999.99 and less. As long as the direction of the thread stays that way I'm okay with the occasional deviation. |
