Default MadDad(TM) Whisper Dual Tip Catback

I'm happy to report our Whisper Dual Tip Catback is a home run on every pitch. We test fitted the one-off this evening and it fits better than stock. There were a few of us at the garage late this evening and everyone was in agreement this thing fits absolutely perfect. Not only are the 3.5" double walled slash cut tips right at home...they are centered perfectly with just the right amount of clearance everywhere. We didn't have a db meter with us tonight. The exhaust previously on this wagon was a Whisper single tip so we all made a note of the tone of the single tip(noting garage echo) before installing the dual tip. As can be expected the tone of the dual is quite similiar but eveyone picked up immediately on the deeper tone(if you can believe it...the single is pretty deep as it is). Lots of grins, in particular on its new owners face who wanted a dual tip Whisper a year ago. Things got even better when he took the car out for a rip. We noticed when driving full tilt boogie in the upper rpm ranges this thing takes on a jeckle-hyde audio change that does not appear on the single tip. We had the car do a few passes to verify it was the exhaust. Bascially you can count on this sounding much like a WRC Rally car at the top of the RPM range. I'll try and grab a sound bite of this in the next week since it's very difficult to describe in words. I can say it put a smile on everyones face that was watching and listening with an open ear. The driver claims there is a butt dyno difference as well, but that could just be the uphoria of having the dual tip he always wanted to begin with(though it might be true with the dual baffles running the full length of the canister enhancing the flow).

The Dual tip will run $30 more than a single tip but for this first production run we will hold the $649.95 price of the single tip. So order now and save $30. The Whisper Caback is hand crafted in the USA. Expected shipping is the tail end of January. It is a MadDad(TM) product and holds the MadDad(TM) two week money back gaurantee..even after you've installed it.

very nice!! can't wait to hear the sound clip!!!

edit: was that installed on a completely stock wagon? up/dp ? catted/catless? and should i assume that this uses the same mid-pipe and mates up to only 3" dp's?

The Mad-Dad as created another Mad-Tight product: the Dual Tip Whisper

After the experiencing the flawless fitment a few of us took turns 'breaking it in' around the skid pad @ KTR. And....it was all goooood!

I had run the MD 3" single tip whisper for about a year, and loved it. It had beautiful note somewhere between a 2.5 Stromung and 3" Borla hush. The new dual tip is has the same tone but an octave or two lower; more growl!!

But no 'drone' like the Borla (quite pronounced on a wagon) I added another 25 miles to my flight plan home from KTR last night just to extend the audible delight of the new cat back further.

If you are seeking a very well built (Made in USA) 3" cat back/axle back with a modest sound volume, and want to keep the look of the OEM (MY02-04) dual tip, I cannot recommend the new DT Whisper enough. Its robustly fabricated in 304 Stainless and well polished. If anyone in the New England area is interest in hearing mine feel free to PM me. And/or come to Wicked Big Meet this June and check it out there.

My only disappointment is that it took Rich a year to heed my advice to build one. Albeit, the year delay did get him two exhaust purchases out of me in one year....

I'm interested in buying the dual tip Whisper. How much would it cost if I were to pick it up vs. shipped?

Thanks,
KV

Great product, Rich! I will be ordering one soon to replace my Hush.

I assume that I will have no problem mating the Whisper Dual Tip catback to your V2 downpipe w/ 3" flat flange, right?

Will the catback come with any gaskets?

After getting this catback, I will have a complete MadDad exhaust system - V1 header + V2 downpipe + Whisper Dual Tip catback =

Thanks!

They are being built like the single tip...meaning they will use a full 3" intermediate pipe(with flex section) and no tapers for donut gaskets, which does mean you need to mate it to a full 3" downpipe e.g. MadDad(TM) Metal V2 one-piece(or two piece with the flat flanged secondary section), MadDad(TM) Essentials Catless Bellmouth(still available while supplies last at $175), Helix, Invidia and a few others. If you do want a dual tip Whisper to mate to a Cobb DP or others that might use the donut gasket you can special order your Whisper with a 3" intermediate pipe without the flex section and with a flange design to mate with the 2.5" donut gasket.

The first production run is $649.95, which would be the local pick up price + MA. tax of course.

boostfed - the wagon it was installed on was running a VF34 turbo and a MadDad Metal two-piece catted downpipe with a 3" flat flange..however you can special order a Whisper with an intermediate pipe that will fit your particular downpipe, even stock.

I've run a Borla Hush, and, on a wagon, both the single and dual tip Whispers are less drony. FWIW...

Is this much quieter than the invidia g200? I have the g200 mated to the v3 invidia catted dp and wanted to look towards something a bit less quieter and more of a stock looker.

Hmm... Is there anyway you can attempt to quantify 'less drony'? I am currently running Hush on my wagon and I'm very interested in getting the Whisper Dual Tip. So any assessment you can give will help me (and Rich ) a great deal! Thank you!

In db, no. Drone is not from volume or presure alone, but from tone and volume combined.

REDrum - I wasn't looking for db measurement. Perhaps 'quantify' was not the right word to use. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and find out for myself...

Sorry I read quanitify and thought measurement. Drone is what drives you crazy after 2 hours on the highway @ 80 MPH. Much worse in wagons than sedans.

I've run quite a few exhausts and the new MD Whisper is my favorite; nice deep boxer growl. If you like the sound of the Bola Hush you'll love the DT whisper; its an octive, or two, deeper with no drone. Its also VERY well made

If you were in NE I'd let you drive my car and hear for your self. Come to WBM and hear it!! If you can wait til June....

REDrum - Thank you. Your last description was much more helpful to me. Yeah, I know the wagon drone very well. I think running a set of RA gears made it even worse in my case. I can only hope MD Whisper will be able to minimize the droning somewhat.

I don't think I can wait until June. But I certainly plan on atteding WBM for the first time in this coming June.

I put that 50c towards the purchase of the Whisper... I just placed an order.

REDrum, your feedback helped out a lot. What pushed me over was the fact that you are running RA gears as well. The droning was okay with Hush when I still had the stock gears. It definitely got worse after I put in RA gears. Let's see what this Whisper baby can do to bring some sanity back in my daily commute.

Thank you again for your feedback.

BTW, did the exhaust come with any gaskets? If it does, I'm assuming there are 2, no?
