XV Crosstrek cladding on the imprezas. Discuss....
I've been sort of fantasizing about this for a while. I really like the look of the cladding on the crosstrek, and I've been pondering whether that cladding could be made to fit my '12 impreza. It may not be realistic, but I think it could look pretty good.
Quick mockup in photoshop: Thoughts?

Works for me.
I was thinking the same thing, but body colored. It's not much, so you could hardly tell if it wasn't for the difference in color. It might be a simple way to get to some sort of 2.5 RS body styling. |

I think I am going to give this a shot. I guess the next questions are:
1. Whether to get the Crosstrek's cladding parts or whether to emulate it with something else 2. Where to get the Crosstrek's cladding parts (a quick search and I haven't found anything yet. Not unexpected given how new the model is.) 3. If I don't use the Crosstrek parts, what to use instead. I'll do some more looking around. Of course, thoughts or suggestions are always welcome! |

They will fit, but there may be more than what you see that you need to buy.
For example, you can make the aero splash guards fit a base Impreza, but you also need the body colored rocker panels that comes on a Sport, because they are designed to fit over those. |

Excellent points. I'll be contacting my local dealer this weekend. Fingers crossed they aren't too costly!

I think it looks good, especially against the silver! You should also look into the XV brakes... heard they were bigger. Please keep us informed.

Sadly, that ones not mine . I got the white, which I like, but every now and then I find myself stealing glances at the silver ones.

Well the quote came in. $126 for each individual wheel well molding. Ouch. And the side skirts are $133. So all total, I'd be looking at $770 to add on just those parts of the cladding. A bit rich for me right now.
Time to start thinking of other solutions... |

Doing it right is going to cost that much any other way you do it. If you get or make fiberglass flares, paint is going to add up to that pretty quick. Do they attach to the body via holes in the fenders or clips from the backside? If you can remove them from an XV without the mounting showing, you might be able to fins someone willing to part with them for a lot less than $700.

I checked with Subaru Genuine Parts. It came out to just under $600 for everything. It does require clips to mount and some drilling may be required. I've been seriously thinking about this as well.

anyone know if the crosstrek front bumper cover would fit on the impreza? from the two parts diagrams on subarugenuineparts.com it appears they have the same basic mounting components. wanting to replace mine on the impreza and i think the crosstrek one might look pretty good.

I am going to go with the xv front grille and bumper cover. I parked near one and looked very closely, and I think it wpuld be a straightforward swap.
And as soon as someone crashes theirs and some used bits come up, I think I'd like to do the xv suspension pkg. I just dont want the roof rails or any of the rest of it. I realized this weekend that I could use a bit more ground clearance, and a week or so ago I saw an old outback sedan. It looked even higher than an outback wagon. If xv brakes are indeed bigger/heavier duty, they will be the first upgrade. |

The grills are the same. Do you know the offset of the impreza wheels? The XV is 48, these are 45.

stock impreza wheels are +48 as well. 17x7 or 16x7 dimensions depending on trim.
Nice wheels |

Well I decided that the best upgrade would be... the whole Crosstrek!
The upgrades are great. Feels like a whole different (and better) car now. Cause it is! I'm LOVING IT! [/IMG] |

What do you like about the XV over your old Impreza (besides the fact it doesn't burn oil not to jinx you)?
