Hi Guys,
We have the parts and our engineers will be taking a close look at them next week. If you want to be put on a distribution list for updates on this kit, please email me at [email protected]. Please put "STI BBK" in the subject line. Thanks.

Sounds like a very nice setup. I was reading the marketing material on Essex's site and there was a little blurb about dust boots.

We currently use the 362mm 6pots ... with DS 1.11's RC6 for the rear. So far 2 years and no need for rebuild. |

I want to run 17"'s so sticking with one of their smaller 4 pot kits. Actually also thinking of using their 16" 305mm kit. I'm back and forth about staying with 16"s or going to 17"s. Though I assume I need some ducting if I stay 16"? Anyway, that's OT. So, carry on! |

We've been making some forward progress on our STI kit. We are currently doing some final work on our Lancer Evo kit, and the STI kit will be hot on its heels. We are going to the track next week to do some testing with the Evo. The main reason I post this is because these two cars are obviously quite similar. This kit clears the OEM 17" Evo wheels by a country mile...something like 8mm clearance to the wheel spoke, and plenty of barrel clearance on the wheel. I expect the OEM STI wheels will have no clearance issues. The AP Racing CP8350 caliper is more compact than the OEM Brembo unit. It also weighs far less. I'll take some weights and snap a few pics shortly. As for a rear kit, yes Essex is indeed planning to make a rear kit using AP Racing competition parts. In the meantime, here are some pics of the front kit installed on our test evo: I stuck a standard house key in there to show the space on this one: Last edited by J Ritt; 06-10-2011 at 09:09 AM. |

I just took some weights on the AP Racing bits vs. the OEM STI parts.
OEM caliper (includes mounting bracket) = 8.2 lbs. OEM front replacement disc (Centric brand pillar vane...very similar to stock)= 22.4 lbs. OEM sized pads= 5.4 lbs. Total OEM brake package= 36.0 lbs. per front corner AP Racing CP8350 caliper with mounting bracket= 5.6 lbs. (caliper without bracket is 4.8 lbs.) AP Racing CP3908 Heavy Duty racing disc with Evo floating hat installed (STI should be almost identical)= 17.6 lbs. Largest pad available that will fit in the CP8350 caliper= 4.8 lbs. Total AP Racing brake package= 28 lbs. Difference = 8 lbs. less unsprung weight per corner, or 16 lbs. total off the nose of the car. OEM components AP Racing bits |

Same here, really looking forward to putting these on my car. I run 17" wheels and I didn't want to get 18" wheels just to allow better brakes. I feel like a kid before christmas.

Hi Guys,
I've had a number of Evo customers ask me if brake ducting would work with our AP kit, so I figured many folks here would be wondering the same thing. As mentioned before, I expect the STi setup to be very similar. The ducts nest up into the bracket beautifully. |

J Ritt, would you be someone to speak to about purchasing AP Racing calipers, not the ones from this kit specifically?
