Default Are Goodridge Stainless steel Brake lines supposed to be plastic coated?

Just purchased a set of Goodridge stainless steel brake lines for my 02 WRX. I thought they were supposed to be plastic coated over the stainless steel braiding to prevent abrasion and to protect from dirt. Yet when I opened up the package I noticed that they weren't. Are there two models, was I wrong about this and maybe it was another brand I was thinking about? Can anybody clear this up for me? Happy holidays everyone.

Goodridge does in fact have both coated and non-coated.

But good luck finding them. Most retailers only stock the uncoated variety.

exactly

and the Technafit ones are tested to a higher PSI than Goodridge too - no wonder so many top shelf brake companies subcontract Technafit to manufacture their lines

I've had both, and honestly found the Goodridge fittings and build to be of superior quality. It's annoying as heck that their coated lines are relatively hard to find.

not too sure about technafit line quality

1 when i first installed my lines one of the rear lines leaked right away
2 the plastic tab that gets bolted down to the strut broke off after 100 miles of driving the goodridge ones are metal

but i called the company and they were able to ship me a new set within a week no questions asked

If they ship a new set "No questions asked" it seems they've had this happen before, yet they don't solve the problem i.e. metal tabs instead of plastic ones.

From one who supplies non coated hoses on hundreds of kits (other than the Subi where it was an easy bone of contention) I'd not loose any sleep over it. I'll grant you that the covered hose has an advantage but in 13yrs of brake kit building I have never knowingly replaced a hose due to dirt abrasion. Crash damage, bad rubbing, bad installs....yes but dirt no.

hm... I've been using it for a year without any problem I trust their quality since they were the one who made the lines for StopTechs...

Technafit does not make StopTech lines. Every StopTech line is made in house, coated and tested to 4500 PSI.
