31 lb/min is around 310 crank hp, tops...so roughly 449cfm. Now according to that graph your power is about right, maybe a little high, about 7-10whp.

A vf-39 is roughly 460cfm (don't have an exact number). So it will produce about 7whp more if we are bench racing.

The 19t will outspool the 39 all day, but the 39 has been known to touch 300whp, and 280+ is very attainable.

I'm just using some conversions to make facts. I myself will be going the 39 route, although this is tempting, I just hate not being able to pull to at least 6500

To each his own, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hopefully within 2 weeks I'll have a graph for you

I completely agree, and thanks for the info on the VF39. I spend most of the time below 6500 and only really rev it out to 7k in first and maybe sometimes in second gear. I don't ever street race, I've never been to a drag in my Scooby and I like all my suspension mod the most...

As for this graph, it's not entirely fair to be honest. The 39 was on a later model WRX and obviously has more miles and all cars are different. It would be more accurate if it were a dyno plot of my car with each setup. but honestly, I don't think it would make much of a difference. I don't feel there is that much better of a turbo setup "for the price" for spool and torque on a 2.0l and that is what I'm lookin for...

your setup looks like it's going to be a blast to drive and I look forward to seeing your results

.

Actually the vf-35 spools sooner and pulls just as hard...broadest powerband for a vf series. There is a mint one for sale on here with pump and injectors for $650...which is a steal. Just not what I'm looking for

The 39 was on a 2.5? If so, it should have put a hurting on the 19t. Anyways, I don't street race or drag either, but the 39's powerband (to me) seems flatter, and gives a full pull. I see your argument, I just want that extra 20whp I know my tuner can get me. The 19t it is ideal for low end, for anyone else interested check out the vf35 for sale. Full spool by 2800 and 430? cfm, so will put down 270+whp. Just something to think about.

I actually have a VF35 sitting around LOL... I like the turbo alot, it spools just a tad slower than a TD04, provides incredibly smooth power, and pulls good through the RPM range. It's my favorite daily driver turbo (currently). However, I'm just too curious about the upgraded 19T TD04, especially since it should spool at a lower RPM than the VF35 and flow more. My only concern would be the smaller hot-side for top-end, but time will tell.

The 19t will flow more, about 7hp more, but the hotside will choke it unlike the 35. I was really looking into the 35, but I don't feel it can give me 280+ im looking for

^^ ok so the TDO4 19T will will fall off its powerband at around 6200 rpms?

But whats the deal with this VF35? Full boost by 2800 rpms, and it pulls all the way to redline? It makes around 270 whp? What turbo does the car come from?

The 19T will fall off before 6, I can't see that small of a hotside holding past that.

The 35 will go till MAYBE 6300-6500. It comes from the AUS STi's and EDM wrx's that were bugeyes I believe. Not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure that is what I read online somewhere.

The powerband for the 35 is incredible. It won't produce high numbers, but it's been many peoples' favorite dd auto-x turbo out there

i just bought a blown turbo to do this upgrade. considering its probably the best bang for buck to any 2.0 owner. iam trying to put as little money in my dd as possible without breaking stuff. my sti sucks me dry. so on that note. would this turbo require a fuel pump up grade and fuel injector upgrade or can i get away with the aded power safely keepiny my stock pump and injectors in place

Deadbolt recommended injectors and fp with their Monster TD-04 using the stock compressor (02-05 WRX). With the 19T compressor producing more power you most defnitely will need to upgrade injectors and fp on an 02-05 WRX (420 cc).

dude, did you completely forget about the dyno chart I posted earlier of the 19t??? as you can see the 19t powerband does not start falling off till 6200rpm also in case you didn't read the post of hex2bit, who has had personal experience with the 35. he states the turbo spools slightly slower... it makes me when you make statements that go against factual information and peoples personal experience

I didn't say that that it spooled faster in that post. It has a table for a powerband that is flat as mary kate and ashley olsen's chests. And I was looking at the first graph, since I figured both plots were the same, didn't even look at the second one. That one does hold a tad farther in the rpm range. The 35 has some competition, but I was reading UK forums when I found out about the 35 last week, and they tend to love the turbo for rally and auto-x. If people start to jump on this we'll see if this becomes the go-to turbo.

damn so i mean with the VF35 were still hitting full boost before 3k around 2800-2900 rpms. and were holding until 6500 rpms. That sounds like it would be the most ideal turbo for DD. Then if you PnP that you get full boost way earlier. sounds pretty sweet, the only thing is... where can you pick up one of these? is it going to cost me an arm and a leg, because you still cant beat the TD04-19T for 325 bucks. That is a SOLID turbo for the price. If the VF35 is 600-700 then it probally isnt worth it.

There is a member selling pinks a 10k or so used vf35 and walboro, for 650...awesome deal. Just search for it. I'd really like to see a 35 and 19t put on a 2.0 of the same year and dyno'd side by side.

Pinks, will be fine.

DP, my bad

I have a feeling this is just a modern vf35, to me they seem to be almost identical turbo....characteristic wise

Yup, that seems to be it. I'd still like to see the side by side comparisson, or one on similar cars. But it all comes down to feel on the actual road. Yes, dyno plots are nice, but how it responds and drives is the most important thing. My td04 has been driving great lately after my tuner and I tweaked a few things after going from AP to opensource. It somehow pulls till almost 6. I think it knows I'm upgrading and is trying it's hardest to not be replaced.

Would the 19t see a substantial gain from using an external wastegate?

Im using a 38mm tial on my td04 now, and I have considered the 19t. But most likely I will go with a e3 16g or hta 68.

This is my current torue curve/ boost curve.
http://www.efilogics.com/dyno/index....1&boost=1&gb=0

also I see full boost @ 2500 in 6th gear! Its a fun feeling using torque to get around vs higher rpms..

^^^ Id assume so... the TD04's turbine ousing is tiny as you know. Im sure a EWG would help, especially on your 2.5

EWG will always help. This has some decent information, and is what you are looking for. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...1558381&page=2

I'm considering one as well. The EII 16g is great on the 2.0, I can't speak for the 2.5. I've seen the hta and it's pretty damn nice for the price. It's all personal preference.

I already have the EWG and I am tuned.. 241 whp and 323 wtq on a td04. A lot of people wouuld call me crazy for that but I think I made damn impressive numbers on a mustang dyno... Im looking to upgrade the turbo itself, and basically if a 19t is like a hot headed vf39 down low and a 16g is hardly an upgrade for a vf39.. then it could be what im lookin for. I called blouch, you hardly ever get the 325 dollar price considering most td04s they get need some parts = +$$$$$$$ He kind of steered me away from the turbo actually.. but most people steer away from the td04 period.

Just a thought/question. Because your modifying the stock turbo you could still run in a stock turbo class?
