Yeah you are correct my fine friend. That's part of the problem. I am so upset with the quality of life these cars have. I checked my oil 200 miles ago and it was perfect. Today I was 1 1/2 quarts low. Hesitation from idle to 5k. Max boost 8psi. Same crap as before. This car blows!

Still have 10 months if soa powertrain warranty. So the question is whether or not to have them butcher another repair on the house and sell it or build it the way they should have from the start. Keep it and forge it or bandaid it and dump it?

Can you afford to keep and forge it? Or just have warranty cover it and demand a new engine?

I'm surprised they won't just replace the shortblock in your case.

I honestly think the stock tune just sucks. Too much emissions crap means it runs lean, and we all know what happens when these motors run lean. Knock, knock...who's there? Cracked ringlands.

I'm sure I can find a way to cover the cost of forged internals but I'm not sure if I can find the time and I surely don't have enough money to pay someone else ti do it

I'm going to tell you right now that they are not going to build the motor properly, unless you know the technician and machine shop on a personal basis. Forged pistons require a closer attention to detail to achieve proper clearances, and that requires a trusting relationship with a skilled machinist. They will hone and drop in a set of forged pistons. This will not result in a much better motor as the rings will probably wear out sooner than you'd be happy with.

Either fix it and sell the car, or drive another car while you properly build the motor.

I have access to a set of forged internals and a block just dont have the knowledge or time to assemble and swap my top end. I am a confident with bolt on crap but internals in this delicate eggshell motor called the ej whatever I'm worried I'll bliw that one too. If there is anyone who has the knowledge and maybe a few weekend days to spare I could really use the help.

You really need a good machinist. That's key. These motors are a lot more sensitive to clearances than others. You can't just throw a set of bearings at them like a Chevy 350 and expect it to last. It'll all come down to machining in your case. Wicked Innovation can assemble the motor as well.

I would suggest bringing it back in to them, but seeing as this is the 3rd time with the same issue demand they replace the engine with a new shortblock and not just another repair of the issue. They have the previous paperwork proving what has been done and that it obviously is not working and you don't want them to try it again to have the same thing happen. State that there obviously is either something wrong with the block causing the issue, or that having the damaged internals has since caused damage to it and you want a new one.

That would be great if they wouldn't just put the same junk cast piston motot back in again.

Well, Sarah can choose wherever she wants for next week's meat. How's that?

As for tomorrow, we're North Shore again. Where are we going? Jamie suggested a new idea.

I would consider that if it were faster. If we race I would still have enough time to replace my motor and get back out in front. Haha!
