Default small car problem

I 2006 wrx tdo6 18g aps front mount i havent had any problems in about 8 mo im currently in korea so i cant get to much hands on but i had myfather drive it to a car wash and he said that while he was driving the bov in first and second gear relased the air pretty quick as usual but when he hit third gear it was a long hisss of air and it started to blow out black smoke i think its a hose....but then i remembered that when the trottle body hose comes off it turns off .....and my dad saids that it still ran for a while and he let it idle and it was fine but as he drove home it died out......its sounds like a hose to me...what do you guys think

try to tighten the spring? or get a different bov or recirculating bov

Could be a hose, but black smoke is usually a bad sign.
