I personally don't like the smoked headlight/fogs look as I think it defeats the purpose but to each their own. Maybe a very light tint on the red portion of the tail lamps but that is about it for me. I am going for the clear Lamin-X headlight overlays and probably the yellow ones for the fog lamps in the future.

You can prob just PM him. I think he sticks to modification threads. Hes easy to find.

You can probably skip the wet sanding but if you do it with 1000grit or higher it makes it hazy, not really scratched. You can always polish it away if you change your mind or something.

What fog lamp kits fit? Where would they be sold? (I'm sorry, I'm totally clueless as to where to get parts past standard bits like bulbs and gas caps)

Default My poor baby

So I have been MIA from the forum for close to a month now as a result of this.

Pre-accident:

POST Accident that happend on Sept 10, 2012:

This is the car that did it:

I have been without my car for over a month now. The total damages is about 10k. I got rear ended. I wasnt even moving. I was merely sitting in traffic. The front of my car got slightly damaged too because the impact pushed my car to the car in front.

I should get my car back next week. Hopefully its as good as "new"

SIGH...

The mechanic said since our subaru has a unibody structure, that remained untouched and it was mostly sheet metal that got damaged.

Fingers crossed that when I get my car back, I wont run into other problems.

Your poor subie...hopefully it'll be back to it's former glory soon. Quick question, how did you tint your tails? What product? I know it's lame of me to ask post accident...

Mine too got hit on the side few months ago by someone who didn't check his blind spot.

Canadian sport package like your but CVT.

Although my mom was driving it.

3k of damage & 500$ of car rent(nissan versa) with less than 300miles on the odometer. They didn't repair everything as they left both wheel on the other side scratched. The new bumper is not fully paint properly(miss a spot near the bottom grill) & they didn't paint retouch properly between the pillar & the fender. The rest look pretty much as new I think. It look as good as new from 2 meter.

Video of how it was restored:

By the way be sure to check the manual after your car will be repaired with the automatic windows.

In case they unplug the battery.

It seems your body shop did a pretty shoddy job on the repairs, you should definitely bring your car back and make them fix everything that they had missed.

That is terrible, hope you can restore your car back to its previous state prior to the accident.

Yeah I was planning to do a 2000 grit wet sand, I just don't feel comfortable sanding them down though. I'm sure after sanding the paint would adhere much better (no drooping or orange peeling and the tints would look much better too) than just spraying it directly onto cleaned tail lights.

So would you guys recommend vinyl overlays or painted tints? If someone is willing to paint my tail lights for around $30-40 Canadian, should I just do that? Since buying the paint would be around $20 and I've been feeling kind of lazy lately.

Picked up my new 2013 MBP Sport Limited yesterday. First shot after the rainy drive home... Going to install the cross bars and Kicker tweeters this weekend, wash/wax and will post another. Could not be happier with this color.

Congrats Lohnny, I just broke the 2 month mark on my car and I haven't done any waxing of my car (just the wash and Meguiars Spray Shine). Someone mentioned the Meguiars NexTech 2.0 stuff is pretty good so I will give it a shot tomorrow.

Thank you! And thanks for the recommendation. I was thinking a spray wax would be fine after its first wash. I will try meguiars as well!

I have been using spray shine with every other wash and quick detail but I think this would be good for every other month. Winter is coming soon so I want to put a little extra protection on the clearcoat. Another 45 minutes of work...uugghhh.

The insurance called the person who got into the accident & also claimed the repair was perfect(They made sure they won't get the professional nit picky person at the phone which also is a contrator to this insurance company). The case is closed & if I try to get those repaired, it would be if I was responsible for those damage at this point.

It took 2 weeks to get the car repaired for such small damage due because it happen before an holiday. There was delay for the parts & we had a Versa in rent. There was a lot of unnessary cost in it paid by the insurance, they were pushed to repair the car as fast as possible at the last minute which also have been repaired at the Subaru dealer.

There was a huge storm 3 weeks ago. There's a hole on the paint hood & the fresh restored wheel paint got damaged from rocks from the storm.

Does anyone have any pictures of an ISM 5-door with Rally Armors or the hood deflector on them. I am trying to decide on whether to get these two items.

Thanks. I got it tinted at a tinting shop. Not entirely sure what kind of tint they use for tail lights.

I ended up going with Turtle Wax Ice... I installed the crossbars and gave it a good wash today. I'm debating whether or not to wax it tomorrow morning... I've been warned that it may not be best for the paint to wax a brand new car. Any idea what Subaru recommends as to when it should be ready to wax? Sadly, I'm about to say goodbye to my first Subie, but I'm glad they got to meet each other, heh.

Nice. Looks good.

Ive heard around this site its perfectly safe to fully detail the brand new paint. Im not sure what subaru says specifically, but between the time it sits at the factory, amount of time to get to your place, and advances in modern paint you should be good.

I heard the same as well. The way I understand it, you only have to worry about waiting to wax when you have your car painted at a body shop. Mine suggested 3 months.
