Awesome!! Its a bunch of fun (this will be my 3rd) - everyone is awesome, all willing to help. Don't be afraid to just go up and BS with anyone there.

One thing I've learned...bring stuff. Bring ANYTHING you can think of. Jug of water, change of clothes, OLD SHOES, etc. I brought my entire garage the first time, the second time, I figured out what I could do with out and brought essentials. Also, clean out your car the night before - loose change, etc. If you need to borrow something to inflate your tires when you arrive, come find me (4 door GC RS, #5). Grab a can of 'fix-a-flat' too, just in case.

Once you do a few, you'll see who the familiar faces are. I haven't talked to everyone, its usually whoever is parked next to me or at the starting line.

You're gonna get hooked...

I see the tractors are out there cutting the grass this morning.

This is supposed to be a bad year for ticks so don't forget some 20% DEET spray for when you're working a corner.

Yeah I asked them to mow and grade out rough spots and ruts on the main course. I'm glad they are getting it done.

I hate ticks.

So we're going to run the main course again?

I like the fact that we can run a longer course there... but I also enjoy the Barn course. Not least because it seems to be a bit less dusty AND we're less likely to need the water truck, being that far out.

If you are right, then it would be best to run the barn course later in the year. Once we are closer to hotter temperatures.

Running the long course this Sunday sounds like the right thing to do based on your own comment

The Jefferson 500, one of the biggest events of the year for Summit Point, is this weekend; I'd expect there to be extra effort from track maintenance to limit the dust.

Is anyone camping Saturday?

I'll have my Lancia there this weekend crewing for the vintage racing. Now if we were to break or crash before Sunday, which course can I run a lowered car w/ airdam on tarmac racing tires on and not get stuck?

As a newbie and now having run on all three courses in dry conditions, I have to say that I like the barn course best, main second, and don't like the gravel course much at all.

not that it matters. All three courses are 10x as much fun as any parking lot course (coming from someone who has done ~100 autocrosses over the years).

Prophetic

That was fun. I finally started getting the hang of it (so to speak) in the afternoon but I had put myself in a pretty deep hole during the learning process. Worst run in the AM: 101.x, best run was an 87.x. Worst run in the PM: 91.x, best run 76.8 I think.

Both goals met:

1) Don't hit any solid objects
2) Not DFL

Thanks to Katie and Shawn (and Danny?) for the codrive! I'll have to try this again in cooler weather. And with bug spray.

I'd like to report multiple rules violations by katie: no helmet and mugging for the camera. This was during one of her runs. really. true story.

you're still a bit new to RX so you probably haven't heard about how girls with orange rims get one free rule violation per event, that's what Katie says at least.
Unfortunately no such rule exists for boys in beamers.

Sounds like a great RX day, bummer that my work homework had to take priority. Maybe next time.

I drove home with no working speedo, signals, brake lights, or radio, and had to get a push-start and drop the clutch to start the car, lol. Quality German ignition switch, yay!

But I did make it 90 miles home without a ticket, somehow.
