Exclamation The 12th Annual 48hrs of Tristate Charity Drive, Jan 17-20, 2013

The 48hrs of Tristate Committee is happy to announce the 12th Annual Charity Drive January 17-20, 2013. We will be organizing this trip once again and this year we are heading North again to get back to some snow covered roads. Some background on The 48hrs... The trip was originally organized as a way for Subaru owners to get out and see the Tri-state area and meet other Subaru owners who share a passion for these cars. What better way than to have a group drive over a weekend in January? Since it's inception it has grown from 5 cars and 48hrs to 50+ cars and 3 days. This is the largest Subaru Group drive over multiple days, and you will meet a lot of great Subaru owners and bond over meals and miles! Not only is the trip a fun way to spend a weekend, we also are doing this to raise money for The American Cancer Society. All registrations and donations go directly to ACS and are a Tax Deduction. Additionally for every $10 you donate, you will get a raffle ticket for our door prizes donated by Subaru Vendors. The past few years we gave away about $10,000 in prizes each year thanks to the supporters of the event.

Details and registration can be found at http://48hrs.info

Highlights of the 2013 Trip:
Friday Jan 18:
Kickoff at Phoenix Racing, Home of the Subaru Road Race Team
Group Drive up to Burlington Vermont

Saturday Jan 19:
Tour and Visit at Vermont Sports car, Home of the Subaru Rally Team
Backroads Drive through the picturesque Adirondack Mountains
Raffle Dinner and Party at Dunham's Bay Resort in Lake George, NY

Sunday Jan 20:
More Back Roads Driving
Closing Dinner at Steak and Stein in New Windsor, NY

This is not a rally or any kind of performance driving, it is a laid back group drive where no one is left behind and we all proceed together on our adventure. We welcome all kinds of Subarus and Non-Subarus on the drive. Plenty of folks have come with non-performance oriented cars, so don't be scared off thinking this is all WRXs and STis.

Any questions feel free to post up or e-mail us directly to [email protected]

We will keep this thread updated as the details fall into place for this years trip!

The cutoff for the hotels is 1/1/13 but the cutoff to participate will be around a week prior to the kickoff. Ted I'm sure will chime in and give particulars, he's in charge of the registrations.

Would love to have you make it out!!!

here i am

reg will be open until a couple days before the event but, if you can, reg by new years that helps us plan the raffle dinner #'s better.

also dont forget our enter "fee" is really a minimum donation that is made to ACS. you do not have to "pay" this out of your own pocket, collect donations and register when you have enough.

we are usually in the 800 to 1000 mile range for the drive not including getting to the start or driving home after the closing dinner. i myself have not looked at the mileage for this year yet.

Thank you for the info. If I left after the Saturday raffle and party would you say I'm going to miss a ton without driving the whole Sunday, as far as the closing dinner goes? It seems like you hit the beautiful scenery and the shops/tours Fri and Sat which would probably be awesome to see and experience.

Just don't want to burn myself out with my ~800 mile trip each way back home.

As Ted said, breaking off on Sunday morning wouldn't be a bad idea especially if you have to drive back to Chicago!

That's most likely the way I'd go. I don't have off for MLK day I get presidents day off; which I'm guessing is just to spread out holidays throughout the year.

Still contemplating the trip, I seen the average cost just for the actual run and probably have to add a few hundred dollars more, which is always pushing it after the Christmas.

Start booking those hotels. Most of the group-block rooms expire on 1/1/13
