Stage 2 93 Octane w/ Perrin CAI Intake Data Log
First of all I wanted to ask if I could post my data log here for feedback. It is pulling timing at the same low rpm range on every pull -2.45, I am only hitting 17.9 PSI on my best pull, and I feel a weird hesitation/hitch at partial throttle at times.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for replying. Perrin's Stage 2 93 Octane map. Mods are Invidia Divorced Wastegate cat-less DP mated to optional SPT 3'' catback using Grimmspeed Adapter to avoid any leaks, Kartboy Front/Rear Shifter Bushings, Cobb Heatshield and that's it.
I was running the Cobb Stage 3 93 Octane map while I had the stock airbox and was seeing up to 19.1 PSI and no hesitations/hitches. I added the intake in hopes of a colder intake charge and slightly more aggressive sound. Since the issue w/ low boost target on this map and hesitation happened right when I installed the map I'm pretty sure it's not a boost leak. As someone said possibly it's the ECU getting used to the map since I've probably only gone through half a tank of gas w/ it? |

There's a learned correction at lower RPM that represents two past knock events, which may be nothing to be concerned about (it has started to learn in the other direction). If you are in the habit of going wide open throttle at very low RPM (<2000), I would avoid that are you are lugging the engine (not good and you may see knock events because of this). Downshift when you can. For logging purposes, start the run at 2500+ RPM.

Yeah I thought 2000 rpms seemed low but was instructed to log starting there and I never bog the engine during regular or spirited driving at other times. I will log a few more runs starting at 2500. Also on the AccessPort how do I make sure Intake Temperature is on the log along with the others?

You can add/delete monitors that are logged via the Monitor -> Set Data Log List option on the AccessPORT. Keep in mind that the more you log, the slower logging will be and the ECU will top responding past a certain point. Generally, there shouldn't be a need to log IAT during a WOT run - just check it before and after the run if it is a concern. Bill |

Thanks Bill. I logged two more fresh data logs tonight, added IAT just for the hell of it and got rid of TD Boost Error (was told by others it's not a metric I need to monitor right now). Data was similar, still not clearing 18 PSI which Perrin and I both find unusual. Let me know if you see anything else. Also in terms of the learned correction, should I assume it's there for a reason and leave the ECU alone or could it be possibly only due to the lugging the engine and I should try disconnecting and connecting my battery's negative terminal and see if a knock event occurs again?
Anyway, here are the new logs: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...puSGc&hl=en_US https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...Nab3c&hl=en_US |

Just realized the last log showed some activity in the feedback knock column...never had that populate before. Is that anything to worry about? What exactly is it?

The feedback knock shown in the second log is from mashing the throttle - you can see how quickly you go WOT and how the feedback knock is present immediately after. That only represents one event (first line with -1.4) as the rest of it is just ramping the correction slowly back to zero. Generally, this type of correction is normal and difficult/impossible to tune out.
TD Boost Error tells you how close you are to the actual boost target. A map may be rated for a specific target but the actual target can potentially change based on altitude and for later cars, IAT. Positive TD boost error means you are under the target by that amount, while negative means you are over the target by that amount. For our OTS maps, we generally say you should be within +/- 1 psi of the peak boost target. Bill |

This is mainly for Bill but anyone can jump in that is knowledgeable. Perrin made me a new map to adjust out the feedback knock and fine knock and my underboost. As you can see the map took care of any knock so far.
HOWEVER, I am still having boost issues in terms of how it builds and being far from the boost target of 18.5-19.0 PSI in S# mode. I saw it hit 18.2 psi while I was watching the boost on the AP in 3rd or 4th (can't remember) but the best I could data-log was a little over 17.9 during a 3rd gear pull (86 degree outside temperature, medium humidity). Aside from not hitting the target, with the boost, I noticed on each log it was kind of all over the place when it was building 17.43, 17.38, 17.81, 17.77, 17.67, 17.66, 17.85, 17.98. Shouldn't this number be rising all the way to around 5,000 rpms (instead of jumping around) where peak boost hits? If it helps to diagnose I can sometimes hear the boost "flutter" a little bit when it's building? It's not a creep scenario though, I've felt that in another car and it's way different. Let me know! On a side note, by me looking for suggestions on tuning issues, it is not by any means a knock (no pun intended) on their maps. Their service has been awesome and they've been more than willing to work with me. I have nothing but good things to say about Cobb and Perrin both! https://spreadsheets.google.com/spre...hWOHc&hl=en_US |
