A few days ago I had been visiting at my Mom's condo with my gf. When I left to go to my car in a visitor spot, from several feet away, I saw this tall guy ogling my car. I knew it would be awkward because he wouldn't be expecting the owner to walk out while he was checking it out.

When we got close enough for him to realize I was the owner, he backed up a little and stopped looking up close and said "nice whip man" as I went to the door lol. I was like "Thanks.." and laughed. So funny and awkward.

Then, yesterday, I was driving home from work. I-84 was traffic as usual, so I skipped getting on right away and took back roads instead to get on the highway further down. You have to drive through a sort of ghetto-ish area on the way.

When I was at a random corner waiting to turn right, three younger punk-looking kids were walking around the same corner. When they were like a few feet from my car on the sidewalk, one yelled out "Fresh ride!!" and I yelled back without looking, "Thanks man!" (my windows were down a bit).
Then I glanced over and saw the one that yelled taking pics of my car with his cell phone camera hahaha.

I remember one time I let my friend drive my car cuz he wanted to feel how a Subaru drives. We approached a fairly steep hill, as he let on the gas he said, "This thing is an uphill BEAST". I looked at him and was like wtf? Lol

I don't get so many comments, but I do get A LOT of double-takes, or people staring through turns at my STI. It's awesome. I must admit I did NOT expect all of the attention with a stock '11 STI w/ roof racks and mud flaps. Hahaha, love it

It was also the Focus RS that had the Volvo-derived motor. I a version of the same one in my S60R good for 300 HP stock. That motor sounds fantastic and I'm going to miss it, even though the Subarus I've driven sound great too (I haven't received my STi yet). A friend once described it as "half of an amazing V10", lol.

Almost every "P2" Volvo S60 and V70 had a 5-cylinder in North America. Many of the older S70/V70/850 models did too. The smaller cars have fours or fives, and the newer cars have mostly I6s with a V8 wedged in one for a few model years for good measure.

There's also quite a few Audis sporting I5s.

Ya I have a stock bug eye at it gets lottts of looks( from people that know what it is. Then you always have the "dudes it's a sedan coupes are so much faster, you look like an old person" people. Those are the ones that cry when you spank em in a stock car.

or he meant an accessport which is a pretty reasonable thing to say despite the fact that you already have a tune

I had some guy oogling my car and telling me that my first mod NEEDED to be a chip... I just kinda looked at him like this . I now have the parts to get a chip, but as the car sat stock -- no gracias.

Not really a funny phrase but fun story. I had a Modded GTi Hatch pull up next to me at a light and took off at green, so I was like why not. I caught up and passed the guy before the next light that was less than half a mile away.

We get to the next light and he asks "Hey man is that an STi?'
Me: "Nope"
Him: "What you got done to it? She a beast!"
Me: "Intake and exhaust."
Him: "Oh" puts head down and turns away.

His car had quite a bit done to it from what I could tell.

That's just mean, like punching a three year old in the face and stealing his lollipop...

Oh, and for any of you that are going to come on and say "rawr, street racing is bad!!!", give it a rest, we've all shown up a punk in a VW, Honda, Audi or something at least once.

I can actually say I havent been tempted with such non sense in my sti.... for instance...

Today at a light i saw in my rear view a honda tricked out, saw an intercooler on it... and it was next to me.... revd its engine, sounded like a lawn mower. I didnt give it a second look, wasnt tempted... i just felt sorry for him wasting money into a 1992 piece of crap.

Quite often I'll rev mine up like I'm gonna race and when the light turns green I just take off as usual, I think it's hilarious because normal take off in a subi will best most Hondas/toyotas anyways.

Then why do people consistently buy GTIs, Mini, and Abarth fiats?

True. I would only get the fiat of those because it's so ridiculous it is charming.. But the fact that gti's are as expensive as a wrx wagon it seems like an easy choice. It was for me

They may be slower, but they are .. have electrical problems and .. err wait.. hmm. ThEY HAVE LEATHER AND STUFF!!!

All joking aside, they are more comfortable, refined, have less rattles, and have a decent following where I'm from with cool people. Apples to Oranges.

I've had multiple people ask me if it has a hood scoop on it and instantly are convinced it's some sports car because of that. Always makes me chuckle a bit on the inside.
