Default Engine/ECU Harness Pin Removal

My friend is finishing up a V7 swap into his 2002 WRX.

Can anyone provide tips on how to remove pins from the factory ECU/Engine harness without damaging them (breaking the locking tab)?

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking to remove the female terminals that are in the connector that connects to the ECM, good luck. Those terminals are tiny. You can get them out, but usually not without destroying them, and they are NOT included in the Subaru terminal repair kit.

Thanks.

I did search - got ton's of BS. I guess I wasn't using the right terms. I was using 'remove pins factory harness' and 'remove pins ecu' and 'swap remove pins'.

Unfortunately, the thread says to jam some **** into the plug and pray that you don't destroy anything. I was more curious where the locking tab(s) are so that I dont just jam something in there and chew it up.

^^ Yea, it seems to be one of those things that needs repair more often than not when pulling these wires. I half hate Subaru for all their impossible to take apart things, the numbers of which never cease to amaze me the more I work on my car

here's another http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=490422

Seems to be the consensus that the Snap On tool for this is the way to go, but this thread has some details on where the lock is on each pin partway down that page.

I use a snap-on depinning set and the "T" sewing pins from walmart. It works great, I depinned my entire engine harness to rewire and tuck it.
