I see you have PS2 tires as well. I ran these on a Z06 years ago, and loved them. How do you like them on a WRX? I know the tread depth is less than 10/32" and that's fine....I know the weight is about 3 lbs lighter per tire....just wondering if the sidewalls are stiff enough?

Those actually look like the new Super Sports... Anyone been successful in negotiating a different tire on a new car purchase? I plan to swap the Dunlops out for the SS's pretty much asap, would be nice if I could just have the car come that way.

You're right.....Super Sports. My bad.

I also did a bit more research and I believe he is running 5mm spacers + extended wheel studs to clear these Brembos with the OEM wheels.

I hated those dunlops on my sti but then again I live in Washington and we don't get much sun lol. I just put some continental dws on them and called it good. They were over 1000 though after everything. Way better in the rain and snow but don't grip as well when its dry.

Thanks! It was the first project I undertook after getting the car and it took some tinkering/planning to get it right. I purchased the front calipers used for $600+shipping off a classified on clubWRX and the rears I caved and bought brand new from RallySportDirect ($1000). Reason be is after 3 months I couldn't find any for sale, loved the gold calipers with the stock wheels, & at the time brembo was the only company making the bracket required to mate the rear caliper to the 2011 WRX (check out rsutton's build thread, he has details on the brackets that KNS Brakes makes now so you can buy used rear calipers & save $$$$).

And yes those are Pilot Super Sports and I LOVE THEM! It's my second set after going through the first set with several track days and daily driving. The tempature change at track days is predictable throughout the life of the tire and I was very impressed with the treadwear too. I think the sidewall is more than stiff enough relative to the OEM Dunlops (one track day and they were all torn up & mushy), but unfortunately I haven't had any other performance tires on the WRX so I don't have another comparison haha.

My brother runs Toyo R888s on his cayman with 235/45/17 rears (215 front) and the "mush factor" after throwing down a few laps is pretty similar to the PSS. The toyo's are DOT R tires so I would have to say on a relative basis the PSS are worth the money if you put them through some spirited driving & expect them to last. Again, different car so maybe not the best comparison though...

Here's a picture I took after installing the GTWorx/Bilstein & RCE Yellow combo on my car (SWP) this past weekend. The difference in ride height is not very noticeable as you can tell. I took the picture alongside my friend's wrx, which is completely stock, for comparison.

only requires a 3mm spacer up front and you can use the stock studs. been running mine for months now.

Ya I went with 5mm because Ichiba didn't have 3mm spacers at the time, but there is def more than enough space on my setup. Techincally, when I was mocking up the calipers to the hub/inside of the wheel with a CAD cutout Brembo provided, only 2mm was needed to clear it safely. Its surprising how much space is behind the OEM WRX wheels with the spoke design...

Btw, I love the red calipers on WRB!! Looks beastly!! Nothing says stopping power like red brembos haha

Thanks. I like the ride a lot. It's night and day between these and stock. Noticeably stiffer, but not too stiff for daily driving imo. The car's overall responsiveness also increased. Probably going to pick up the RCE sways and KB endlinks pretty soon too.

Not too much actually. used goldie fronts, 08+ rears, pads, rotors and bolts from kns. did the install myself at friends shop(awesome to have a close friend who's a mechanic) all in all i think i spent around 1500-1600 for everything. of course i dont have slotted/drilled rotors or fancy stuff like that, but im happy with them.
