Smile Review of new Legacy/Liberty GT

This is most likely old news, but I'm sure some of you haven't read this yet. It's a review done of the Subaru Liberty in Australia. They have the same car we're getting but with a 2.0 twinscroll tubro instead of 2.5t. Other than that, they loved the way it handles/feels.

The Outback 3.0R recently won a comparo between it and the Toyota Highlander and a Holden crossover.

Unhappy a bit worrisome?

from your article:

Build and finish quality
Excellent. However the first GT test car had to be returned after it developed an intermittent electrical fault, which shut the engine down. This was traced to a short in the main fuse box, which interrupted the power supply to the Engine Control Module. The second GT had a severe surging problem when the cruise control was activated, particularly when pulling up hills.

A 2.5 litre model being tested by a newspaper in Melbourne also had en electrical problem, which caused it to default to limp home mode. Subaru claims this was caused by the Engine Control Module power supply connections being disturbed while the car was being used for technical training.

Default I like THIS excerpt:

The wonderful GT is a different drive altogether. No other performance sedan on the market comes close in value for money terms. It can hold its own with European sedans which cost three times as much.

I expect bugs in test cars. Better them than us. Trust me, the cars will be fine and dandy by the time we get them.

Talking Me likey~

Sounds promising. I've read other reviews done by personal owners. All of them have loved the handling and had absolutely no problems at all.

What I find interesting is that they only get the 2.0T. I wonder how impressed they would have been with the 2.5t.

Apparently, the hot thing in the JDM is importing the 2.5-liter blocks. A report on the performance difference between 2.5 and 2.0 would be interesting.

Depends what the car is being used for. The 2.5L engines are the hot ticket in Japan for Dirt Trial and Rally. For circuit driving some (and I) still prefer the 2.0 twin scroll.

I don't think you can say that for every situation and every person that one is better than the other. Some will always like the kick in the pants of the 2.5, some like the long smooth pull of the twin scroll.

They're both good lumps.

I would've never thought people would be wanting USDM parts. It's usually the other way around!

That is interesting. People here carp and whine about bumpers, and HIDs. Wonder if the folks in the JDM are feeling hosed because we got the 2.5?
