Question 2011 STI - E85 conversion help?!

Hello,

I have a 2011 sti, owned it for almost a year. looking to get a pro tune in the next month or so. I've heard a lot of good things about an E85 conversion.

So my first question... Is there anything that anyone would recommend [parts wise] other than injectors and fuel pump.

My current mods are... Cobb intake, Accessport, short throw, Turbo-back exhaust

Also, I live near Chicago. I am torn between P and L Motorsports And AMS Performance...

...Ive talked to both the price difference is few hundred dollars. anyone prefer one shop to the other? or who would you recommend going to based on personal experience?

I have a 2011 and I used AMS in live in South Bend Indiana. I am about to take it to them again for e85. I went last april and have love the car ever since. I think if they can build 1300hp GT-Rs I'll trust them.

I just switched to E85 on my 2011 STi. I went with the DW65c fuel pump and FiveO custom 1000 cc injectors. They were really easy to tune and they still idle and drive really nice on regular gas. I'll be on the stock turbo for a couple more years at least so 1000's made sense to me. There is a little room for a turbo upgrade but I would have gone 1200's or 1400's if I had bigger plans for it sooner.

I haven't dialed in any extra power yet on my tune but its running really well on E so far except for the horrible gas milegae of course I'm waiting for a new Wideband to show up tomorrow so I can fully tune it.

Your mods should be plenty sufficient for some nice gains on E85. A lot of people switch to an interrupt style boost controller as well such as the Grimmspeed EBCS. It helps control boost a lot better.

Good luck.

I don't wholeheartedly agree with that philosophy. I thought AMS promised a WRX intake from their "rapid prototype" machine. If I'm remembering correctly that was over 3 years ago. Maybe a hood emblem from a GT-R will get you the hook-up

I'd say the only thing you may want to invest in is a AFR (wideband) gauge. Maybe even an E85 tester/beaker. But if you don't have a AFR gauge get one.

Really either are fine. I think P&L probably has more experience with Subaru since, as I understand it they've focused on them for a longer period of time. At the end of the day, tuning is tuning. Making sure you have an accurate AFR, IDC, Boost, no detonation, etc... Just pick the one you jelled with better over the phone.

I was going to recommend P&L, but judging by the date i suppose OP already made his choice by now.

Does Junior still work at P&L? Im torn between the two shops as well, but have heard nothing but great things about Junior's Subaru tunes.
