Default Honda Civic Wagon Concept to debut at Geneva

Autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/06/h...but-at-geneva/

Quote:
Honda is getting warmed up for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, with a sketch of some very Euro-flavored forbidden fruit. Seen above (click on the image to see an expanded view) is the Honda Civic Wagon Concept Model – a rather tentative name for a car that Honda claims "provides strong cues for the exterior design of the final mass produced version."

The sketch seen here is obviously very stylized, but we think that if Honda can stay true to its sleek rounded forms and aggressive silhouette, the final product could be quite fetching. Note that this is an image handed out by Honda of Europe, for a European auto show – we have every expectation that that any production-ready Civic wagon will be a Europe-only deal. Sorry, guys.

Find Honda's brief press release below, which also includes news of the European debut of the updated NSX Concept we saw at January's Detroit Auto Show, along with a diesel-powered CR-V.

Civic wagon concept model and the next generation NSX Concept take centre stage at Honda's 2013 Geneva Motor Show Display

Honda today revealed its 2013 Geneva Motor Show line-up with two new concept cars, and the CR-V featuring the new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine.

Civic wagon concept model
The Civic wagon concept model provides strong cues for the exterior design of the final mass produced version. This new Civic derivative will further strengthen the Civic range.

Evolution of Honda NSX Concept
The new Honda NSX Concept, making its European debut, suggests a potential direction for the next-generation NSX's interior design.

The exterior design stays remarkably true to the original concept styling, maintaining its low and wide stance with the dynamic and alluring proportions that are highlighted by clean, modern and simple surfacing, and edgy details that communicate supercar attitude and a high-tech feel.

CR-V 1.6i-DTEC
The CR-V will join the Civic in offering Honda's new Earth Dreams Technology 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine. The CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC will be available in two-wheel drive, with manual transmission, providing an exceptional balance of performance and economy. The 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine is the lightest engine in its class, helping the CR-V to deliver energetic performance, agile handling and low running costs for customers. The CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC will be available from Autumn 2013.
The Honda Press Conference will take place at 13:15hrs CET on Tuesday 5th March on the Honda stand (stand number 4250).

We all know one thing, if this does get unveiled from Honda...the States will surely not have it!

^^ Likely true, But...

With the Focus hatch selling really well it's less far fetched than it would've been 5 years ago.

Like other recent Euro Civics, I'll bet it's based on the Fit chassis, which makes a North American model less likely.

We can hope, right?

My uncle has a '91 Civic wagon with 4wd and studded snow tires at his house in Tahoe. It's dog slow but works great in the snow.

And of course, the US market won't get it - even though the hatchback Civics were pretty popular with the import performance crowd.

Yes I know, but I don't know what the difference in size between this car and the TSX/Euro Accord will be. Honda models usually (but not always) get bigger with each succeeding generation, so it wouldn't surprise me to see Honda try to pass this off as an Acura in the US.

Then again I don't know that the current TSX Sport Wagon sells well enough for Honda/Acura to continue offering it.
