Default clutch smell when going up mountain road.

Hey all. I got a 2003 WRX and I noticed that my clutch kinda smelled after 10 minutes of stop and go traffic going up a mountain road. But I babied it and wasnt over reving or anything like that. I mean I would rev around 1.5- 2k or less to move a couple feet at a time. In and out without riding it too. Is that normal for it to smell with only 10 minutes of stop and go? I would think not, but I dont know. Are they that sensitive or could something be wrong that I should look into or have checked? My clutch works fine too. It grabs fine, doesnt chatter and other than the occasional smell from repeated use it works fine. But that smell it bothering me.

PS the clucth is a OEM with about 20K on it and Im not one to treat it bad.

Same problem with my 05 STi. It some times has that smell when I'm forced to feather it out of a particularly steep incline on my way to work everyday.

Slipping/using the clutch a lot gets it hot. The resin melts a little. Anyway, it's reversible with cooling down. Frictional heating was discovered by early hominids, and used for starting fires.

I try to keep the car in a lower gear and use revs to keep the clutch cool, but then I don't run the hills in traffic since I go where most people don't go. The car is stage 3+ so I can run the rpm range widely in 2nd or 3rd or 4th, without using a lot slipping/heating.
