Well your looking at the shots of the veloster and the Sonata I shot last year when it came out. This one belonged to a magazine for a long term test car, I was putting miles on it while visiting the rents for the holidays

That's why I don't get NASIOC these days. Hyundai builds a Veloster Turbo which is basically just a funky looking MINI Cooper S competitor but with inferior underpinnings and lackluster driving reviews, and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Subaru builds a sports car (for the first time ever) that's very lightweight for this day & age, has the most powerful NA 4 cylinder Subaru has ever produced, has some solid, proven underpinnings, has a very nice transmission and a real LSD (not to be confused with the viscous crap on the WRXs all those years) and a price that's very affordable... .. not to mention glowing reviews for it being one of the purest driving experiences this side of a Lotus... ... and there's nothing but bitching. |

I will say that I'd be all over a Sonata Turbo Wagon if there was one Not really cars that would be cross shopped. The GenCoupe is more a competitor for the BRZ but it is a lot bigger and more of a GT car Quote:
BRZ is going to appeal to more hardcore enthusiasts than any of the Hyundai's and Hyundai isn't really after that kind of buyer anyway at this point. |

I was getting my Veloster trim levels mixed up (possibly on purpose). The standard Veloster is apparently very softly sprung but it's getting mixed comments because some reviewers seem to be confusing a lightweight car's tossability with good suspension response.
*edit: That said, I drove it (the Veloster Turbo) in Forza 4 and thought that it sucked... so there. Quote:

I prefer the BRZ myself and I'm not crazy or a magazine racer but I guarantee a lot of people will cross-shop these two- just like the WRX gets cross shopped with the Genesis Coupe or the Mustang (no logical reason, but it does). You guys forget that the average car buyer is FAR LESS car savvy than some people are here. If I did not know any better, I would be thinking: what fun sporty car I can get for 20-25k these days? And guess what, these 2 would be on the list... Funny story: last week I was at a subaru dealership for service, in the display room a guy is looking at the new 2012 impreza. He is opening the trunk of a 4 door model and asks: is this the hatchback? <- this is your average car buyer. So all the rhetoric and mechanical details in the world that differentiate BRZ from the Veloster T are not relevant to him. |

DI and turbo? Prepare for some serious gunk on your intake valves unless this comes with catch can as a OEM.
but i do agree, BRZ will be a faaaaar superior choice... Last edited by rallymaniac; 01-12-2012 at 04:22 PM. |

/\/\/\ fortunately there is more to a car than just straight line acceleration or acceleration from the roll, otherwise we would all be driving american slushboxes
you want to be uber fast from the light? Go ahead. I'll take my crisp handling BRZ to have fun from driving and not just accelerating. |

People hear "turbo" and they cream.
Then I think "turbo lag" and I scream! |

I haven't seen a single positive complement for the Veloster's handling. And from what I read in the article they weren't changing the suspension, possibly misunderstood. I'd rather have a Focus hatch. |
