Thumbs up Test drove an Evo tonite

Wow, was faster than I expected and handled and broke very well indeed. It spooled up very fast, that was the most suprising thing about it...

I'll have to try an STi sometime. Maybe mine will be complete soon...

List of cars I'm test driving:

RX8- already drove it and it's superb
Evo8- complete
Sti- not yet
Mini Cooper- not yet
SRT-4 (maybe)
G35 cpe.- not yet

RX8 is very high on my list but the torque of the Evo makes me think twice...

i think once u do ur swap u will be pleasantly surprised with the AVCS.

for the STI, test drive one that is broken in.

and might as well throw in 350Z; 03 cobra; and S4

The G35 is sweet, but not quiet in the same group as the others on your list. The G35 has more of a BMW feel than the rest of these.

It gives my car strong run for it's money. The other day my wife tried to race me and I was really surprised how long she was beside me!

350Z
I was thrown the keys to a 350Z. I came back real soon with no regrets that I didn't take a longer ride. Pretty car. Nice lack of body roll. That's the best I can say about it. 287 hp my pattooty! I didn't feel much over 240 or so (based on a 5-spd Altima test drive) It's a rolling blind spot.

RX-8
Does well for the poor power and even more poor torque that it has. It's actually a fun car. Feel very balanced. Unique in its look, but everyone has one. Very nice interior.

G35 coupe
Hope it's better than the 350Z. I did like the G35 sedan, but I wasn't looking at it like a sports car either, so the performance was nice for the kind of car it is. Didn't feel as quick as the Altima, but the Alitma was a 5spd and the G35 was an auto.

Evo 8
Best car test driven to date. Everyhting else was pitful in comparison. I bought the Sti and don't regret it. I bought if after the Evo drive, but I still say the Evo is a better feeling driving machine.

SRT-4, Cobra, Z06, 2001+ M3
Waiting my turn

S60R, Cayenne S, Viper, 2004 AMG anything
Probably never get a chance

Well, I haven't driven any of the others, but i have driven the Cobra. On the street and at the track.

It has an AMAZING amount of power, but we already knew that. It also has wonderful handling... I was impressed at the speeds that my friend took his normal corners (I wouldn't have dared try that myself). VERY stiff clutch, for obvious reasons, but much much ... TOO much fun. Still a Ford, but an SVT. I would buy one if I had the money.

FWIW, my friend was originally looking at the 350Z until I mentioned the Cobra. He was overwhelmed by the Cobra and has no regrets. Don't forget the lack of space the Z has. But also can't forget the gas the Cobra uses!

i see your maybe about test driving a SRT4...i have one and i love it, however if I was going to spend the money an EVo or Sti cost I would have never looked at it. It is a great car for the price and I am having alot of fun in it though

How was the shifter in the Evo? The shifter felt really stiff and notchy the time I sat in one in the showroom. Maybe just because the car had like zero miles and was sitting still....

We test drove an Infiniti FX45 and a Cayenne S last weekend. (Time to upgrade the Suburban sitting out front.) Both were surprisingly good for what they are. I think I'd still want to wait to see what the latest iteration of the BMW X5 does, before starting to really get down to which one to buy.

We were impressed with the FX45 and 35. Good feel for an SUV.

I test drove a Cayenne S as well, ...really surprised me. Feels just like what it is, ...a Porsche SUV. I can't imagine what the turbo feels like.
As for the Evo, I haven't driven one, nor an STi, but am very interetsed in both (more so the STi). ...other cars on my list to drive are the IS300, A4 and 04 S2K.

The Pilot's styling gets me (yuck!).... but I have loved the MDX since it came out.... total luxery.... but how does it compare price wise to the FX4?

as for the Toureg.... hopefully VW will see it fit to bring the V10 diesel to the US.... then the SUV would be awesome....

its not better than the 350z. My roommate has the g35 coupe, my friend has the 350z.....if you like back seats, sure the g35 is cool, but I still prefer the 350z after driving both cars. the one disappointing thing about both was the clutch that was softer than a wet sponge. plus how can you beat the color schemes of the 350z. black paint and the ferrari tan leather ddrroooooooooooolllll.........

price wise between the MDX and FX35 are the same. FX45 is way more expensive.

the V8 toaureg is 315hp or so but have not got a chance to drive one plus its more expensive than the pilot and more than the MDX.

Less SUVs more Sports Cars

Back to Evos and stuff...

How are the dealers doing on the price? Are they coming down or are they still holding MSRP? I would think that they are hurting with the STi out cause I didnt even have to ask to drive one, they seem like they arn't selling well. Plus every time I drive by the dealer, the same Evos are always parked there. How are the dealers on warranty claims? They arn't as picky as SOA are they?

I dont know for sure but I have heard mitsu is just as bad on warranty claims, at least if you have any mods.

And I dont think its that the evos are not selling well. I have seen alot more evos on the streets then stis. Its just mitsu is making alot of them there are half of dozen sitting on every lot while the subaru dealers are still running out of stis b4 their next shipment comes in and when it does come in its usually only 4-6 cars.
