Default Funniest phrases/questions you've heard about your Subie II

So I thought I'd launch a thread about funniest things people have told/asked you about your Subie. Or EVO/SRT-4 i guess too, since they're all "similar" from other non-technical people's point of view.

Let's hear it! =)

because when threads get too big, new posts to them bring the server to its knees.

Lol WTF. And doesn't everyone know all Subaru's (at least 1997 and up) are AWD? Maybe they didn't know it was a Subi.

I called a shop and told them I needed a quote on repair for my 02 wrx subaru impreza.

They called back with a quote for a 02 geo prism. I didn't take it to that shop.

Yeah I got that for the first time at recent local AutoX, my first, where most assumed it was FWD. After the first runs I was running a second faster than 2 late Z06s who were first to ask if it was FWD. "Nah, AWD", "Ooohh, that's cheating!"

They did come back and barely beat me in the next runs. Ah well.

Not really stupid comment or question about my car just a dumb comment by your typical my cars faster then yours regardless of what car you have kind of guy.

Stopped by pick and pull to grab some parts for my brothers car. I see some guy pull up in a stock ford probe gt with some big wing on the back shiny wheels, you know the rest.

Sat on ground pulling rear calipers off a ford probe actually (Brother has one, used to be mine so im familiar with the car) and this guy walks over.

Him: "Oh you got a ford probe eh"
Me: "Actually im pulling parts for my brother, i used to own one though"
Him: "Cool, why did you get rid of it"
Me: "Been looking for a Subaru WRX forever and finally managed to pick one up"
Him: "hah id still roast you" (i grinned thinking he was messing knowing the car i drove), How much hp does it have?
Me: "Its most likely sitting at about 250 right now until i get the money to go stage 2"
Him: "Oh yeah....well mine has 270...yeah it has coilovers on it.
i smiled politely and left.

Sounded like the kind of guy where if i lied and said it had something like 600awhp he probably would have said his has 650. Went outside and saw him driving away, was expecting at least a can on the back...but to my surprise it was completely bone stock. lol

first day people knew i got my wrx:
i get a phone call from an inspiring "tuner" that i work with,
" That thing aint ****, my sentra will woop it any day. i gotta admit, its nice. we should get a twin turbo conversion for it"
He's completely serious. I shouldn't have ever gave him my number

In Autozone, getting an emergency battery swap (it was 28* outside and car was starting with depressing "roo roo" noises). A 20-something customer sees my car and walks in, arms akimbo:
Customer (CX): Those STi's as fast as everyone says?
Me: No, they're only 305bhp stock
CX: (jaw opens up)
Me: I've got mine up to 470bhp, but that's only half what a lot of people are getting out of these cars
CX: No freakin' way...
Me: I've beat M3's and Porsche Caymens around PR (our local GT road course), but really it all comes down to how much money you're willing to put down
CX: Well how much have you spent?
Me: $26k for a used '07 STi, plus another $10k in driveline and aero work, so $36k total on a Japanese 4-banger to beat $50k M3's.
CX: (does his jaw-openy-thingy again, only bigger, LOL)

*Not Subaru related besides the 4-cylinder part. lol*
My friend in autoshop brings his '84 Mustang in. Sid is a redneck. But he knows his cars.
Sid-Carver, pop the hood.
Me-Aightttt.
Mitch-Yo, Sid. How many cylinders does it got?
Sid-4.
Me-They have a turbo on this year right?
Sid-Yes sir.
*our instructor walks over*
Mr. Murray- now how come you have two radiators.
Me- Sid he wants to know why you have two radiators!
Sid- You can explain.
Me-Okay, thats the TMIC, or Top-Mount-Intercooler, ya' know? For the turbo?
Mr. Murray- oh yeah, I uh didnt know what I was thinkin'.
Me and sid- suuuuuure ya' did.

Edit: Subaru related incident.
In autoshop talking to Mitch...
Mitch-What kind of car do you have?
Me-Subaru Impreza
Mitch-What is it? A V...?
Me-It's not a V. Its horizontally opposed. 4-cylinder.
Mitch- man 4-cylinders are SLOW.
Me-Whaaaatever dude.
Mitch drives a 1972 Plymouth that has "matching numbers". That's all he talks about is matching numbers. I should just come up to him one day and say, "Ya I have a matching numbers 1997 Subaru Impreza Brighton."

We had Steve Seel from 89.3 The Current, a local radio station in today doing their Morning Coffee Break at GrimmSpeed, convo as follows:

Steve:So what is it that you guys all do here, make car parts?
Mike@GS: Yeah we make aftermarket performance parts for Subarus and many other imports.
Steve: Huh, didn't know a Subaru was the type of car people modified, I know Hondas are!

HAhahah

So I installed my new exhaust today and drive home, when I get in the house, my dad says "now it sounds like a cummins turbo diesel, I guess its better than the mix between a beetle and an old 2 stroke outboard motor..." I just grinned

So my coworker who just got his first car goes up to me and says he got a new car he says to me sarcasticly " bro my new car can beat your Subaru"

I reply "ok what car do you have?"
Cw: Uhh I don't know but it's a five speed and an 02
me: o ok, is it a civic?
Cw: no it's not a civic but it's a small sedan.
Me: (jokingly) is it a metro?
Cw: actually yeah it is

I just start laughing afterwards

EDIT: he said prizm not metro.

Careful man, they're mad fast! Hahaha, I had a kid try to convince me he had his "metroghini" to 150 mph...I don't think those things would hold together at that speed, let alone have the engine or tranny capacity to get over 100. His was a 199X I can't remember, he rolled it last year

Had a ton of people ask me if my supertones were speakers, but that seems to be a pretty normal question.

Yesterday at 7 eleven
Cashier: Are you the owner of that magnificent subaru out there?
Me: Yes sir I am.
Cashier: I have always been a big fan. Is it automatic?
Me: No
Cashier: Oh man you should have got that option added, that way you can switch from auto to manual.

Passenger: Wait what, you have a hood scoop !? Is it real !?

I had been carpooling with this guy (older man) for ~ 6months, and suddenly he spots the hood scoop.
