We've been having some rain here and I have a leak running across my top where it velcros to the crossbar. I've already been thinking about replacing the top altogether but am not sure which Bestop matches the OEM tops exactly? Also, do their colors match the OEM colors?
Thanks guys.

One of the nicest things about them is that the bodies are aluminum, so no rust problems! |

I had bestop element 1/2 doors with soft uppers on my jku. Bestop's uppers were a perfect match to the factory soft top. |

Aluminum body is a plus, I thought they had gone to a steel body on them, good to know. |

Talk him down and LSx swap. $2700 for a rolling chassis seems steep

He says the engine ticks after 15-20min running, but not right away which seems to be a better sign. I don't think it'd need a full engine replacement.
How are these to drive/maintain/own? Seems like a nut punch. |

Read the last 2 pages. My experience has been very positive. As long as you can turn wrenches and you have a 2nd car its all good.

I don't think I'm going to do it. Mostly I'd be grabbing it because it looks cool, but I don't see myself preferring driving it to my FXT on a daily basis and don't have the time to deal with much wrenching right now. Maybe in a year when i'm done with school.

Decided to paint my homemade rear bumpers, since I didn't really want them rusting-out. I had a can of paint left-over from when I had the RS, so I went to town. |

I want a "beater" for snow/child hauling duty as a supplement to my sports car. It will not daily driven and as a result I want something with space and real capability. And it needs to be inexpensive to purchase and relatively reasonably on maintenance. I do not mind (would actually enjoy it) doing the work myself. My budget is ~3k. I'd love a manual but for purchase price/selection automatics are in the running. Is the mid 90's to early 00's Disco a bad decision? I realize I'm looking at 150,000ish miles at this price point. |

Correct.

Make sure none of the cylinders are down on compression and check for a leaky heater core. If those check out, you shouldn't be facing any repairs that can't be done in your garage. |
