Unfortunately for me, and I speak for myself only, it was just way too difficult with it on.

I used this guide:

http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...r-removal.html

- and looked at it on my smartphone as I was taking off the pieces. Thankfully everything was snap off and snap on, and was much more intimidating sounding and looking than it really was.

What'd I'd be curious to know is how you managed to take off the OEM horn? That Submiods bracket did not fit under the latch where the bolt goes in without taking that little bastard off.
Is it possible that the link doesn't work ?

Edit: I think its the whole site that doest work. They will probably fix that...

Thanks!

Do we need to buy some kind of harness and bracket to fit these ? Or just by buying the set I'll be okay ?

UPDATE:

For those of you concerned about the Subimods wiring harness / relay longevity. I have the harness and relay installed on my '10 Impreza and the relay is zip tied along the center pillar in the front of the car (below the bumper line). I have about 1,000 miles on the kit, almost all of which are wet and rainy here in Seattle with absolutely no problems. The harness and kit is pretty much waterproof.

Bracket is not required but does make it pretty easy and centers the horns nicely.

I did the entire install in under 20 minutes.
Could someone describe how the harness and mounting bracket make it easier to do this without taking off the bumper? Do you just shove the mounted horns though the slit under the license plate and then screw it in from the top? I haven't seen any pictures or descriptions as to how this would be done.

I have a 2011 and am not very confident in my ability to remove and reinstall the bumper.

thanks

Maybe if you mount your relays where snow could get into them. I didn't have any problems with my actual horns.. but then again I live in Cali..

If you want to save yourself the hassle just get the bracket.

Is there a matching hole on the other side of the support? If so that looks like a good spot to save $35+

I just installed my Hellas on my 08 WRX last night. I just removed the awesome Subaru plastic "things" (8 total) and had more than enough room to get my hands in there to unscrew and screw everything up. No need to take the bumper or grill off. Im going to go back in and clean the wires up and things like that later this weekend

Just finished installing Hella Horns on my '11 WRX. I didn't end up removing the bumper since I was able to do everything by squeezing under the gap in the grille.

I'm not exactly sure where to mount my relay though. I used the Subimods wiring harness, and there isn't enough wire length to be able to have the relay reach inside the engine bay.

Does anyone have any other suggestions who have used this kit? Should I try to wrap the relay with anything? Right now it's wrapped with some electrical tape until I can get some Command Strips, more zip ties, and better working light tomorrow. It's tucked into the bumper area and attached with some crappy double sided tape (but it is NOT vertical at this time).

sorry been busy/lazy and haven't had a chance to put them on, so they haven't been road tested. i just lightly sanded and sprayed with matte black spraypaint i had lying around. i probably put about 3-4 coats. honestly it's probably not the best but it does the job and it'll be hidden behind the grille.

For anyone who has used the Subimods wiring harness: Where did you mount your relay?

For me, there wasn't enough wire length to be able to route it into the engine bay.
