My BBS LM Build/Refinish Thread
Whats up guys, decided to share the build / refinish of a set of BBS LM I recently bought.
Specs: BBS LM LMP086 18x10 et20 5x114.3 I bought the wheels from someone on NASIOC, got them a week after sending the money. Opened them up and this is how they looked. (Removed a few bolts and the center caps before I took the picture) Next was removing the faces from the barrels. 80 bolts later I was making some progress. After the faces were out, I knew I wanted to change the color of them. I went to Lowes and bought a few cans of Jasco paint stripper. I sprayed the faces and the lips to remove the paint. (Faces) (After 20 minutes) (Clearcoat coming off the lips) (Faces hosed off) With all the bolts out and the faces stripped of paint and no clear on the lips, I decided to move in another direction. I began to polish the oem BBS bolts. Soft wire brush and a quick hand polish they come out pretty good. I then went to clean the barrels. The old weight glue was ugly, so I put some carb cleaner on a towel and went at it.

After wet sanding the lips from 400, 600, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500. It was time to polish them out. I got some compounds and buffing wheels and set up an area to get started.
(After tripoli compound) (After color buff) So with the lips polished, barrels cleaned, and bolts polished, I decided to take the faces for powder coating. I went with a high gloss white. I didn't like the oem polished bolts, I wanted something different. So... After about two weeks of having the wheels, cleaning, long hours working on them I finally got to assemble one. I was in love. Polished up the center caps The final results! It took about... I don't even know how long to refinish these wheels, but now that it is over with to me it doesn't matter. I loved how they came out and I can not wait to put them on my car, when it's back from being wrapped. UPDATE: POST 38, PIC OF WHEELS ON THE CAR AND MOST RECENT SETUP. You are a freakin troll. Why can't you accept that people are enthusiasts for reasons other than yours. I once thought that the piss and vinegar that comes from most of your posts was entertaining. Now I think it is sad that it is all you appear to have to share.

He might be senile at times but I'm going to have to agree with Scotty on this one. Is your next mod a trailer hitch with a pair of balls hanging from them?

Can't see pics but I assume the anger is because this is more wheel or member gallery related content.
I'm curious, if I ever stumble upon a cheap set of multi piece wheels, I'll check it out later. |

Beautiful wheels..spikes did kinda f it up. You might as well put flames all over your car. Spikes is 90s...not cool! Your wheels look clean..lose the spikes. Plus 1 for Uncle Scotty.

You did a nice job on those wheels. Way more attention to detail than most could muster up.

Nice job on the wheels. The gold hardware I like the contrast with the gold BBS logo, but spikes? Really? Lose the spikes and I bet even old man Scotty would like them.

The spike bolt things look horrible. Not bad otherwise, but white wheels with that many spokes are going to be a bitch to keep clean.

Was not going to touch the white wheels thing. But then again the OP seems like the type who keeps the car spotless and waxes their brake calipers so I assume he is not going to mind the extra maintenance.
Personally I would have gone gold wheel centres with chrome BBS caps and chrome / polished hardware. |

Meh, the bolts are small enough that you'll need to look pretty closely to notice they're spiked. I'm with Hondaslayer, I dig the contrast of the gold bolts with the logo and the polished lip.
Surprised you guys aren't all over the dice air valve caps. |

To those who appreciate what I did, thanks. To some the gold spikes are "too much" but to me its what makes them different. I loved spike bolts on rs's and most other multipiece wheels, so i put them on these. And well, haters gonna hate, those being negative about the wheels prolly also would bash me for having my car on air ride. And flame me even more for stretching tires on them. But to each there own. Ill update with another pic when I get them on the car this weekend
