Default EJ22T swap issues

I recently got my EJ22T swap running and I'm having a couple of problems. It is throughing a constant check engine light when running, so I went to check the code and instead of blinking the check engine light the fuel pump and radiator fan pulse (and do not stop pulsing til I turn the ignition back off). The fuel pump, radiator fan, and check eningine light seem to function properly other than that. Any idea what is wrong with this? When driving the car, I hit a fuel cut when it reaches 0 psi (it will not make positive pressure). Would it be a reasonable assumptions that the code is from a bad pressure exchange solinoid or map sensor? Thanks for any help.

How did you go about checking the code? IIRC there are two plugs under the dash, one is green other is black. If you connect one of these plugs it will run a self check and pulse the fuel pump and fans just like you described. The other plug will give you a code readout. You need to find these plugs and unplug them.

I guess I should have specified that this motor is no longer in a subaru. I got the whole harness from the junked car a cut everyhting that I thought was needed to run the motor out of the harness. I pluged the "test mode" ecu pin out plug (it is green) the the other green plug. Sounds like I got the wrong set of plugs....back the the wiring diagrams for me .... thanks for the help

Well I just wnet to look over what was left of the un-used portion of the harness and found that when my room mate cleaned the garage and threw it out. the green plugs plug the "test mode connector" to the "control system ground", I'm assuming that one end of the black plug goes to the "trouble code output", but what does the other end connect to? (also the control system ground?). Thanks for any help.

Are you driving the car with the green and/or black plugs connected? If you are, that is your problem. Those connectors should only be connected when running diagnostics...

no, I'm not driving with them connected. I just want to be able to figure out what code the check eninge light is throughing. I do not have the black plugs wired into the car....I'm trying to figure out what to connect the second one to. Thanks for any help.

How do you like that 914 with a suby? This motor is in a '73 Super Beetle.

Haven't done the conversion yet. Just got the car last month. I am going to drive it stock (w/Webers) for the summer and do the conversion over the winter.

I will need to look up how to send it into read mode. I never remember which combination of them does reset or test or read...
