Default Should Vivid be kicked off the island?

Ok, I know he's a paying vendor. We've also seen the reviews. And many of my friends have had MANY issues with them, from misrepresented selling of parts, to selling of items that are not in stock, to horrible customer service, to alledgedly lying to customers.

Now this place is a Subaru Enthusiast message board and there are more than enough bad feelings about them that I think it's time that the people spoke out.

We know that Vivid pays a fee that goes to keep this site free to the users, as all vendors do. But some of us feel that they do a greater disservice being here.

So... should Vivid be kicked out of NASIOC?

Let the MEMBERS decide. Hopefully Nick and Management will see the results and do the right thing for the club.

If I'm way off base, then so be it. Let the members decide.

This thread is dangerous... I will keep it open to get a valid poll, but I'll ask that all unecessary comments are left out of it.

If you have a FACTUAL post to make in regards to your specific buying experience with Vivid, then you may post that, but otherwise if there is any bashing whatsoever this thread will be closed and deleted faster than you can imagine.

I have no problem with you guys expressing your opinions and I do take great care to weigh them properly, but I can't have people going around just bashing a vendor.

So again... honest experience only, keep it factual and calm. Any flames and this thread dies.

I have a specific NON buying experience with Vivid, in which I asked some questions about a product he was selling, and was quickly called a Troll by said vendor. Being called a troll is exactly why it was a NON buying experience.

Here's the link:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ighlight=troll

Unfortunately he later edited his posts, but SubieGal's response is in there in reference to the Troll "incident". Up to you whether it is relevent or not.

Here is a FACTUAL point I would like to bring up. I tried twice to do business with Vivid, and both times they made me very very upset that I did. My parts took forever, no one wanted to talk to me on the phone, and the parts were wrong when I finally did receive them.
This is not a flame, just a post about my personal buying experience.

Maybe just make this thread the poll and leave any feedback in the huge merged thread??? Just an idea.

i've heard good and bad things about vivid as a vendor. but never had any dealings with them.

i just recently (1 week ago) bought the sti shifter trim over the phone for 55 bucks. this was after i was initially told it was 75 (the normal price) but i mentioned the sale thread in the vendor-for-sale forum on nasioc and got it for the advertised $55. it was shipped the same day and arrived on time, brand new in a subaru sealed box via fedex ground the next week. so that is my first hand, factual positive experience

How does this poll thing work? Yesterday the yes votes were a little more than a 100. Now I look at it, and it's a little less than a 100. What gives?

I would take it as communication of satisfaction (or lack of) with a vendor. I will let Nick answer whether or not it is a democracy. But I wouldn't expect it to be - it is a very well run board and a business.

Also the NASIOC is not the BBB and does not have to screen or check advertisers. Advertisers stop advertising in given means when it no longer generates sales. As long as they are advertising my guess is they are happy with their level of sales from that source.

We should all keep in mind that the advertisers keep this excellent forum open for us at no cost to us. And we should also keep in mind most other similar forums do not allow any criticism of paying advertisers only postive feedback is permitted.

Polls such as this one is useless. The research is clear in the social psychology that polls that ask for people to voluteer. such as this, to answer the question will only draw the extremes. Since the tone of the thread is negative to start (from the title), it is naturally going to draw in people who have negative experiences.

Personally, I have done business with Vivid several times and never had a problem. The biggest purchase (size wise) was the Greddy front lip for my car.... called in the order and it was on my door step five days later. Packed beautifully with all neccessary parts (even though the instructions were in Japanese)....

Regardless of the outcome of this poll, I think Vivid should be allowed to stay so long as they are paying the fee. Take you business else where and exercise your powers as an informed consumer rather than being a whint consumer... nobody is going to force you to order from them again.

People, if you want to comment about vivid, please follow Nicks direction and post in the other thread. If I could have this a poll only with no comment allowed, that would have been great.

To answer some questions about the poll....
It is not a negative or positive question. I borrowed a phrase used on a very popular TV show that many people can relate to, and understand how it works.

The show doesn't say and work 'Should they be kept on the island.' on that show. It's who gets voted off the island by the others on that show, in their democroacy of sorts. Who gets kicked out.

So get some people to vote positively. As it stands right now, only 1 out of 10 people want them to stay.

Since you can only vote once, how can the numbers be fabricated?

Unfortunately, I'm sure a number of people who've never encountered Vivid voted on the poll. But, even so, the results are rather one-sided...

I don't think the word "fabricated" was ever used by me... I simply said that a poll such as this one is useless in gauging anything real in ways of statistical data... and I will say it again.... if you don't want to shop with them, don't.... but stop whining. They are not the only people that run into problems.... want excellent one on one service, don't mail order.... fact of life.... if you mail order stuff you don't get as good of service if you were to dump lots of money into some small local shop.

Everyone needs to stop.

Look. The obvious reason for this poll is to prove a point. The point has been proven. The people of Nasioc have spoken. What Nick does next is his business but to me harbouring a bunch of thieves is unacceptable. Lets hope Nasioc dosent become the Afghanistan of Vendors.

Bah. I have to come here and vent because I have typed up three different responses to hi-jack their new sale thread. And have to slap my hand everytime because despite the high price and the less than adequate job it will do it is the same as every other piece of junk grounding mod sold. (These are relative statements I believe it to be a good mod just all the kits are way overpriced for stuff you can buy of better quality.) If Vivid delivers the product and service they are advertising, they should be able to sell it in peace. So I will bury my response here. I figure they at least deserve a chance to be a good vendor.

Dispite my displeasure with vivid, I really don't think I should go hi-jacking their sale threads with a continuous stream of criticisms of a product. So I post it here to vent. It is just about the same rip-off price and marginal quality that every vendor sells that mod for. I guess I just don't see why anyone would buy a mod that they could build for half the price and better. Maybe I should hi-jack all ground moding kits!

This vote thread is not about the poor quality of mods, especially replicas, but rather about a how a vendor on this forum deals with the a) public posts by members, b) customer service, c) timely information, d) fair pricing e) accurate information and especially how they f) deal with the normal problems they will run into from their vendors and how they solve them for their customers - knowing that customer satisfaction should be job 1.

I think KC determined the nature of the note which included:

misrepresented selling of parts ... lying to customers

Both of which can be related to overpriced marginal quality products. I do not think I am so off topic - this product, its pricing and the way they are representing the product speaks to their approach to business and customer service.
