Default New ecm recall question

Yesterday I received a letter from Subaru telling me to schedule an appointment as soon as possible for a new update to the ECM. I have open sourced my 2012 wrx with a torqued performance stage 1 tune. Will subarus update over ride the tp tune or will I be ok?

I have a pro tune on my car is this a mandatory recall that I need to do? Will I have to bring my car back in to get retuned?

It depends. I have found service departments vary as to what they cover, when, and how.

I could see them saying: "Hey you did not do the update, so sorry"

I could see them say: "Hey, you tuned this, so sorry"

Become buddies with the service department. My guys don't give a crap what you do to the car (to a point), they can tell if you are a d-bag ragging on it, or just an enthusiast with legitmate OEM issues. First impressions and all that.

It really is that varied. Call your dealer and start a dialog. The personal connection is THE most important part of ANY transaction wether it be cars, houses, etc.

If you are already protuned and your warranty is already shot, then don't bother with the update.

I hope that helps.

I already have the tune just want to make sure that I am NOT doing something (getting the ECM update) that the car will need to make it run better. Thanks for the help. And I know pay to play.
