Default WRX wheels on a 2000 Forester L?

Hello -

A friend of mine recently bought a new WRX and ditched the stock wheels & tires within the first 100 miles.

I already purchased the set (for a stupid-cheap price) and am now wondering if anyone out there is running the 16" WRX wheels on their Foresters? I plan on ditching the 205/55 rubber for the OE 215/60 size after the snow stops.

My main question is this - is the 55 offset okay on a '00 Forester? Or should I just sell the wheels on eBay and get some that are more appropriate?

Thanks!

-Chris

Thumbs down Risky proposition

I wouldn't recommend using +55mm offset wheels without spacers. I tried using +52mm Speedline Prodrive P7s and had rubbing issues with a plus one tire setup (225/50-17). I switched to an aftermarket wheel with the same +48mm offset as OEM (OZ Superleggera) and have had no problems.

Spacers create their own set of issues and many people feel they are risky (weak, may break) and unnecessarily complicate things.

Others please feel free to chime in...

Yes, sell them. I bought a set too, and ended up selling them. The 7mm difference with a taller, (Forester OE size) tire causes rubbing on the struts.

What about the WRX 16's with 205/55's?

It should fit, but the tire is about 1.3" shorter that OE, and gives you about 3mph error on you speedo at 60mph.
