Default State of the Union address.... comments?

Insert comments:

One thing I noticed (not state of the union related) is that when the Democrats were in office, I was more optomistic.

[Edited for the mod who deleted the entire text so all the spontaneity was lost.]

Dammit, he keeps mispronuncing "nuclear."

In Pogo, Walt Kelly always had his characters pronounce it "New-Clear," two very distinct syllables. So Bush isn't even doing the Southern dialect kee-rect.

yeah, it's pretty obvious that we're going into Iraq, no matter what the UN says.

I also don't agree with his plan for drug addicts, nor the plan for fixing AIDS in Africa.

But, I think that once Colin Powel shows everyone that evidence on Feb. 5, many people's views on invading Iraq will change. Everyone wants proof, and now they're getting it.

I felt he was very convincing. But yeah, I thought it was a good speech (even though he always pronounces nuclear wrong, which drives me nuts). I just don't agree with the two points I mentioned above, but whatever...

I thought he was eloquent (Surprisingly) and he somewhow managed to persuade me to think the war was alright by explaining why we are doing it (Protecting the innocent citizens of Iraq, protect our interests (Oil), protecting ourselves, etc) and at least he gave some evidence that they have WMD but have not displayed any proof of the dismantling/destruction of them.
Overall, I thought it was pretty good speech, even for not really agreeing with him on all the issues.

I look forward to the evidence that Powell presents on the 5th.

I agree with you but still hope it doesn't come to this because my brother is currently in Kuwait on active duty.

my good friend is in Pakistan on active duty.

He was due to come home in mid-Feb., but he said that if we do go to war with Iraq before he's decommisioned, then he'll not be able to come home for a while longer.

Its bad. The economy sucks, we're going to war, and the Republicans still can't develop a good social program.

Oh, I'm an independent and didn't vote for Nader.

Funny coincidence...

Why is there a Zoloft commercial on? The first commercial break after the State of the Union.

http://www.merriamwebster.com

They have three pronunciations for nuclear, none of which sound like what he's saying.
I also liked how he smirked after everything he said that republicans want from him, thats annoying to.
I hope he doesn't find out how much aluminium WRX tuners use, he might say our upipes and endlinks are vital cogs of a weapons of MD program.

Bush is going to get us into some real economic trouble. F the war on Iraq. We need to concentrate on building the economy. Man, Iraq is not about to nuke us. He acts as if that's our most pressing concern. Got I wish we had someone to run against him in the next election.

Follow the bouncing president.

I mean, he physically bounces- a lot. As if to provide affirmation to a preceding statement.

Of course, preceding presidents had their share of distinct mannerisms.

But this guy sure does bounce. And yes, smirk. And linger on the end of words that end in 's'.

As far as what he actually said; well, it's just a reading of the writing of another person/persons, just like any other SOTU.

I like McCain too, though he says he will not run. The Dems should do whatever they can to get him to jump ship. There is a sad collection of Dems setting to run against the "president."

He said he won't run as a Democrat, he didn't say that he won't run as a third party candidate.
