Just ordered some NGK parts...
Yea, well, almost nobody carries NGK parts in general I have found, let alone for a Subaru. So I did some searching, and it turns out sparkplugs.com(or ngk.com works to the same place), has all the NGK products that are available for our cars.
Finally ordering a set of plugs(Iridium IX), and wires for the car. The Denso's don't seem to be so hot, and the wires have seen better days. And I'm glad to know there is a place I can order them from now. BTW, it was $6.95/plug for the Iridium IXs. Not too bad for a plug designed to go 50,000-100,000 miles. And $47 for the wires.

So what's the difference between the IFR6E-11 $11.71 plug and the BKR6EIX-11 $6.95 plug? (note that I'm including part numbers for the EJ253)

I get my plugs from Napa Auto parts. They carry NGK. But I also know that the Carquest and Schucks in the area carry them also. Basically anywhere I've ever looked for them I've found them.

Just a note, I use Sparkplugs.com for all my ignition plugs/wires. Good retailer, cheaper prices, although slow to get your parts. I order the NGK Iridium's by the 20 pack and change every 7~10k miles

I think the stock model of NGK's for legacies is BKR6E-11, Imprezas have different but its just because of gaping. |

why are impreza's different? same engine...
(older ones) yeah, OE plugs are like $10/ea when i pulled mine at like 80,000 they looked great, so i think they are worth it. i put NGK V-Powers in though, we'll see how they look when i take them out in a couple weeks |

Iridium supposedly doesn't conduct as well as copper, but lasts much longer. A trade-off, really. Besides, there seem to be quite a few 1g legacy guys that have tried others and stuck with the coppers. Also, it doesn't hurt that they are only $1.77 per plug versus $6...... |

I think the ratings for copper vs. iridium vs. platinum were:
4000, 2000, 1000...I don't remember the unit of measurement, but it was a measure of electric conductivity. I'd go with copper unless you like having your plugs in for a long time without having to mess with them. |

it could be that the impreza runs a cooler plug due to the smaller engine space and higher temps? Same engine, so same plug, but with a cooler rating?!? |

One weird thing that I have noticed on that site, and at least one other, is that they give two engine options for the 2000 Legacy, but come up with DOHC plugs. If I choose the 2001, it usually comes up with the EJ253, and lists SOHC plugs, which is what I want. I'm not sure why these sites have the EJ251/2 listed for the 00 Legacy, but keep this in mind if you're shopping online and in the store.

They are the best but they need to be replaced more often than iridiums. Get a nice NGK performance wire set and u'll be all set |

i thought that the iridiums burn too hot for our motors. i had them for about 5 months in my 98' sedan. they seem to be about same performance-wise as the copper NGK's. i didnt seem any increase or decrease in mileage or power when i had them in....but my car is still stock powertrain-wise so....
