Non turbo for life. High rev'ing and low weight
Most interesting post I have seen about this car. Would be nice to see the use of those materials in this car.

Default hood scoop.... go!

alright people I've got two photos here and I want one of you photo shop gurus to add a similar hood scoop from the 06 STI to the FT-86. The hood just looks naked on this thing being all lonnng and smooooth.. it needs a little... I donno ..edge. the STI is just there as a reference, but I am sure you guys can work some magic

Look at the roof of this guy... would totally work with a hood scoop I tell ya!

Meh, throwing a breadbox scoop - like the gd's had - on a sleek car like this will look like **** imo. If there was a scoop it should be recessed into the hood like the gr's. No scoop is best though - enjoy better aerodynamics and cooling efficiency.

As for the drivetrain it is off a Lexus/Toyota IS350. This has been verified several times no matter how much of a fanboy someone wants to be by claiming it is a subaru drivetrain.

Subaru was literally given toyota technology to supplement the engine for this car because subaru could not afford the R&D required, toyota didnt have the time to spend on R&D. This has also been varified.

Toyota pretty much wrote subaru a blank check to take off the shelf toyota parts and technology and mate them to Subaru's new N/A engine that Subaru designed and built.

The rest of the car like it's suspension is of subaru design if you are looking at who is responsible for the mechanical features outside of the drivetrain.

Then it goes back to toyota for the styling.

In the end it is probably the greatest colaboration between two major automotive manufactures in a long time since the Mercedes SLR Mclaren or any one of the elise/ exige variants.

am i not mistaken that toyota owns 18% of subaru?

i agree. why hate? celebrate the calaboration.

would it be better if cars did not progress year after year? sometimes the big brother has to help the lil brother out in the name of profit!

cant wait to see it at the philly auto show. think we will be allowed to sit in it?
i mean it is a production car and not a concept any longer right?
that being said i went to a local dealership to get a brochure for it and no one there knew anything about it. the manager told me she didnt want to misinform me. i wanted to say, id it strange that i know more about subarus than you do?

A dealership, manager and salesperson are often held accountable for what they say. It's very important in sales to only say what you know to be true. You asked for a brochure on a vehicle that will not be out for many months... There are no brochures available. The brands have not even released the information, equipment or prices. How is a dealership supposed to give you this information? You shouldn't blame a dealership for not having information that isn't unavailable. Furthermore, it would be unprofessional for them to offer you information with no basis of truth.

Everyone clamoring for more power just isn't getting it. This car is built to be a true driver's/handling car not a speed demon. It is not meant to compete with Z's, Mustangs, Camaros or the Genesis Coupe. That being said I think it will be plenty quick and fun as hell to drive. Look at it this way, when the WRX first came to US shores it had 227 hp and weighed in at 3300 + lbs. and it was a quick fun car to drive. This car with ~600 lb.s less weight and nearly the same horsepower will offer the same amount of quickness and will outhandle the WRX no question. I've had an 04 WRX, and 06 Mustang GT and they were both a hoot to drive, but I love driving my 2000 RS as well and the stock 1990 Civic Si I drive now is also fun to drive. If y'all learned how to carry speed through corners instead of compensating with power through the straights this would be a non-issue. You want 300+ hp buy something else. Let this car be what it's designed to be.

"we can fit tougher valve springs, and that would allow the brz to rev much higher, maybe to 9000 rpm"

if the sti version is a beefed up NA on a diet, all my prayers have been answered. hey, they said it, not me

BRZ prob around 25 and BRZ limited prob like 27. FRS should have slightly fewer options standard so will be a bit cheaper.

Why would you want to throw a bear-proof trashcan lid onto such a clean vehicle?
