Actually, I was corrrected from the ASCC up in Tanacross. the furhondy might not be as it was, and those in charge no longer, but there is a group in deed intent on keeping the activities or some of them (racing) going. the ASCC's website has a blurpit about that.

well after our first season i will say i had a blast! i learned a lot about driving, my car, myself, etc. for next season i will be getting some better tires than the stock all seasons. i'm sure that will help with the sliding around, even for an AWD. LOL.
i do need to figure out what class i should be in or what classes are available... because i'm unclear on what i can or can't do. |

Rondycross likely wouldn't happen, and a rally-x program (as far as I know) is far from being organized.
The Rondy site is housing stuff for the convention center project, so that site isn't available. |

I might get new tires. The edges are starting to get a little worn after three seasons of autocrossing. I'd like to get new shocks if they ever come into existence. My car needs to shed 500 lbs to become as tossable as the WRXs I rode in.

I know I've asked before, but, I still don't understand. What is PAX? How does it work, what does it mean to me (in a auto-x way)? Is it like, a handicap by what car you drive, and how you place with others?

The PAX index, calculated each year by the "Professional Autocross" people (whoever they are) is a commonly used handicapping system for comparing times of cars which are not in the same class. The index is composed of data from across the country, and tries to take the driver out of the equation and compare only the cars.
These indices are based on cars prepared to the limit of the rules and driven by top drivers. (RLS to see the current year's indices, if your region uses them) The index is multiplied against your run time to provide the time you would have had if you had been in an A-Modified car. It is interesting to compare the index of one class to another to see how much time you should gain if you prepared your car to, for instance, Street Prepared rules. Look in the rule-book to find out where your car would be if you made modifications. You can also see that alphabetically, higher cars are not necessarily faster. I wish my car was as "slow" as yours.
So, with Pax, the key is to get your car to be as quick on course as possible within your class. If you want to stay in a class with a good Pax, then stay away from mods that will bump you out. In our region, the FTD is really the prize. Or at least that's my impression of what people are focused on. Though, getting Pax points does lead to a sense of accomplishment. Damion, I'd suggest you stay in your stock class if possible, or if you have to, one of the Street Touring classes. You'll do some damage next year. |

I'm in G Stock and I'd like to stay in it, but, for the most part there aren't too many other people in it. If so, usually it's people just starting to auto-cross. Usually my class is pretty small during events. Me and someone else, usually a mini. This past weekend there was that group of people that shared that mini so there was actually 7 people in my class! Which was the largest of the day. I want to stay competitive although winning and going to nationals aren't my goal. I just want the competitive edge to be there so I continue to get better. I don't know anything about modding, nor do I about what mods will change my class. I'm getting a cat-back exhaust and I think i'll be able to stay in my class. I'm also going to do tires (for sure) and maybe suspension. so, depending on what i do with those, I'm sure I'll bump into whatever class. |

FTD is Fastest Time of Day.
As for PAX I think our region isnt focused as much on that as other regions, for we are merely playing against each other. for instance I "compete" against Jake, Jason, Jason, Chris, Clint, Hope, Kevin, Darin and whomever else. you know, competeing against friends across classes or within classes. essentially, seeing how close or far we are from each other. PaX is more a season ending thing or class thing, its nice to know and compete in it, but we are more interested in RAW times generally. For modding check the solo rules online or order up a solo rule book when they come available for next season, it'll give ya pointers of what bumps you or what doesnt. |

Damion, feel free to post here or on Alaskascca.com for info about mods and classification.
A catback won't bump you out of GS, and neither will tires if they're on your stock rims (any info I give, if wrong, please point out ) Springs will, I believe. But, there are friendly guys in STS, and if you ignore Jake and Clint, it can be somewhat competitive. Not that I want another fast car/driver in there (you're turning into a Jake or Clint ), but I like competition too. Plus, the PAX for GS and STS are currently very close, .794 for GS and .797 for STS. So, it's not a huge jump in that regard. |

PAX as I understood takes the car out of the equation to compare driving skill. If drivers of an A G-Stock car and a A-Stock car are equal in skill and drove to their utmost potential, the raw times would be different (A-Stock being lower raw time). Now apply the PAX factor to the times and the times should be equal.
