Fresh paint + masking tape = ok?
The paint on the front of my Legacy will only be little over a week old when i have to make the drive to Carlisle, PA on the 8th of May, will it be ok if i mask it off w/ a good 3m masking tape (the green autobody stuff or the blue) for the 7-8 hour drive then remove it? Any harm to the clearcoat?

i dont thing that it will hurt i mean we put paint on freshly baked clear all the time at the shop granted it isnt on for long periods of time worst ting that will happen is it will leave "tape marks" which will come off with a light polish or wax

You will be fine after a week. You can getthe good tape that is used in body shops from your local paint supply store or even Napa carries it some times. A litle trick you can do to help not leave marks is, before you place the tape on your car litely stick the tape to your shirt so it's not as sticky, less aggresive in a way, then put it on your car.

No I wouldn't do that, masking tape will be fine for the drive down but something that will be on forever will not be good, you should wait atleast a month or 2 before doing something like a clear bra, unless you can remove it after the trip. The paint needs a full month to fully cure, even though it looks and feels dry it still needs time to cure. If you put something like a clear bra on it can cause the paint to bubble, worse cause sinareo
