Question question about 98 impreza

I have a K&N cone filter from an old car and was wondering if i can just remover the stock airbox and drop this in place. would this work or do i need more adapters? my car is a 1998 impreza plain jane model. i just got this car for a daily commuter so didnt want to do too much to it or spend alot on it. just figuresd if i could drop this in using the filter i already have it would make it slightly more enjoyable to drive thanks in advance.

Yeah you can still use it but it's best to get a tune after any engine modifications

Just leave the stock one. Go read up on how stock air boxes produce high flow rates and high numbers in general compared to the cone type just slapped on there

So did a little snooping around and found an intake mounting plate at auto zone, made by spectre. Sort of like this : http://www.spectreperformance.com/in...ate-3-abs.html but not plastic, its aluminum. Mounted it on with a little drilling for the holes to line up. Mounted my K&N cone filter on it and it works great. Didn't notice any loss in anything. Only thing is it whistles ALOT more than I'm used to hearing. Anyone else have that?
