Looks like a fun place to visit. I'm doing a cross country trip in July and it's a place where I want to stop by.

What was the temperatures like?

Temps were great, about 60's in the day and 30's at night. This was my first time there and I highly recommend checking it out.

The tree is off of highway 1 going up the Pacific Coast Highway in northern Cali, there are a ton of signs telling you where it is. Can't miss it. Apparently it has been a tourist stop for about 100 years..You might have seen a black & white car commercial a few months back with some footage of a model t driving through it. The lightening pics are a different story, my wife stood out in a wicked storm in Maricopa just waiting for the right opportunity. She took those lightening pics with a 3.2 megapixel canon about 3-4 years ago. She has gotten much better since then, even had some pics in the local Maricopa mag.

Gotta say that the thunderstorms we get here in the valley are absolutely spectacular.

Titan, I LOVE those photos. Good job, man. Beautiful part of the country (thanks to Teddy Roosevelt for the national park system).

Thanks for comments Sirbrass and Nwood. I am currently using an Oly E-420 with 2-lens kit. I had an awesome Nikon system with all 2.8 glass but selling that off to fund mods for the new ride.

I just picked up Kahunaking's Oly E-500 2 lens kit. I like it a lot, I'm still getting the hang of the thing. Only complaint I have so far is I wish the pictures would be a littttttle sharper, there's probably an option on the camera for it, I just haven't bothered looking yet.

Just learn how to sharpen properly in PP. Most images can benefit from some degree of sharpening.

The end result will be better then just turning up the in camera JPEG sharpening.
