Weird, what the hell would be causing the noise then?

im about to replace the stage 1 clutch a just put in with ANOTHER brand new flywheel and brand new OEM clutch! If i still get this noise im going to go nuts! I just dont understand for the life of me how this can possibly happen if you replace a worn clutch and flywheel with a brand new clutch and flywheel of the same make, model, everything!

This may be a dumb question but i dont care...Is their any chance that if the noise was coming from stress for some reason, that it would cause engine damage?

Maybe normal, but what exactly creates the noise? Gears that suddenly are not damped by the new clutch?

FWIW, my setup quieted significantly over 2k miles. It's there, but doesn't bother me anymore.

I have been told it is from the flywheel being thinner, and it vibrates easier. Sort of acting like a speaker.

I find mine is inconsistent, some days it's louder than others and I get the shudder coming back every once in a while.

good for you man....

did you have brand new oem flywheel the first time or did you just resurface the stock one at that time?

cause in your case, it seems like its the clutch thats causing the noise?

yep new flywheel both times,
the noise was the clutch, very strange though since the stage 1 clutch looked perfectly fine when we took it off..

I have a 2004 WRX STi with an upgraded ACT HD Street Clutch and Gruppe-S light weight flywheel (basically same exact thing as the ACT one) and I have the same exact noise, yours seemed a little more harsh in the video though. To top it off I have the Cusco motor mounts and Cusco tranny mount. It's been about 8,000 miles and the car is doing fine.

I guess I don't have to freak out anymore, it appears the noise is normal and just part of the lightweight flywheel.

I love Nasioc, all my answers are right in front of me

ACT streetlight FW & Exedy Stage 1 clutch. Group-N, Kartboy & TiC driveline mounts/bushings from stem to stern.

"Quiet" under accel (staying out of the EWG), but sounds like a dumptruck's Jake brake when you're off the gas.

If it was you, how did you line up those lil marks of balance on the PP and flywheel? opposite or together?

I seem to be having the same problem as you guys. Only difference is say I'm getting off an offramp push in the clutch take it out of gear it is still clunking. Best way I can describe the noise is putting a baseball card in the spokes of bicycle tire. Do you think I should get this checked out or is this normal?
03 WRX
OEM Flywheel & Clutch replaced about 25k ago (noise just started happening 3k miles ago)
