Ok boys and girls, the 05+ auto hvac silver dash into an 02 wrx swap is done and works PERFECT! Ive been testing it for the last two days and it has not flinched.... everything functions amazing from the auto blower and auto temp to the temp display in the sti cluster. So now its time to do the write up which will be a few days being that its a very involved swap wiring wise. So if your looking to do this swap stay tuned and i will provide a like to the new thread on how to do it once ive put the diy together.

Patiently waiting for the writeup
Also - if you have a list of required parts - that would be great as well. |

I'm going to be doing the 05 in my 04. Was it pretty difficult or rather simple? The electrical part doesn't scare me, I'm just wondering what the average install time was.

ok guys lol i know ive been promising a writeup here but ive been so busy that its not even real. I still have all the documentation and pics so hopefully this weekend I will put it all together and post it up. As far as install time, id say i have 15 hours into it, but it always takes longer the first time around right? lol if i had to do it again i could do it in 6 hours.

Anyone know about the swaps into 07 wrx trs? I have STI HVAC and want to put it into the WRX TR - any chance it's plug and play or is there some pretty complicated wiring involved?

holy cow wow! sorry guys lol I havnt checked this thread in quite a while and I havnt done the write up yet but if you guys are serious about trying the swap I have no problem doing a write up. I didnt know there were so many waiting lol.
Just as an fyi: this swap takes around 500 in parts to complete, a very very extensive knowledge in auto 12 volt (if your struggling to hook up your subs or your radio, then this is not for you), and it takes alot of time and about all of the front half of the interior to be removed from the car. THIS IS NOT JUST A SWAP THE CONTROLS AND CHANGE A COUPLE WIRES DEAL. LITERALLY THE ENTIRE HVAC SYSTEM MUST BE SWAPPED WITH AN AUTO HVAC SYSTEM. You will need to track down the 2005+ center console, 2005+ ebrake handle assy, auto hvac complete heater box that sits behind the dash, sunload sensor (top center dash bottom of windshield on auto hvac models), ext. temp sensor, all plugs for everything including both sensors, all heater box connectors, hvac control plugs, and some cluster plug pins to pin in wiring for the ext temp display in the cluster (sti cluster). So yea if any of you guys are interested in this swap and dont mind the work or coin you have to spend, pm me. If theres only like one or two of you then I will just assist you guys via pm or text or whatnot but if theres a huge demand then i will put together a diy thread. thanks guys |

Also, if any of you guys are reasonably close to me and dont mind the drive, I would be willing to do the swap for you for the right price.

I doing this swap now but just a little differently. I got the wiring harness, abs pump, sun load sensor, external temp sensor, keyless entry module, heater core and blower motor from a 2005 wrx.
ran into a couple problems. brake line locations on the new pump are configured different headlight plugs 3 mysterious connectors |

Writeup?
Is there gonna be a write up? I'm gonna get an 02 or 03 WRX soon and this is one of the first things I wanna do cause I like the 05 look better than the 02/03 look.
A write up would be awesome! Also, I have a auto HVAC in my current car and would love to keep that thing. |

ok heres the best easiest writeup i can give
Parts you need 2005 wrx wiring harness from a manual car nothing else to my knowledge will work ( you will need from the headlights all the way back to behind the front seats. the rear harness connects there and the old harness connects to the new one just fine. auto heater core auto blower motor sunload sensor ambient temp sensor newer style keyless entry module ABS Pump Front ABS Lines newer style radiator fans (or hardwire your old fans) Headlights will need to be rewired as well (havent done this part yet) its basically a blobeye to bugeye conversion lightwerkz does not make a harness for that though Everything is plug and play. Only small issue i had was my wiper motor needed to be repined. you might as well do a center console swap and door panel swap while your at it. the new harness makes the door panel swap especially easy |

There has to be another way rather than swapping basically the whole front clip hell I will stick with my manual, or figure it out another way before I do all that that's just to much for auto air

You wouldn't suggest finding another way??? Well wouldn't be out anything because worst case scenario would just have to buy more stuff.

I wouldnt suggest doing it at all. You will find there is no other way really. The only simplier way is to pay iwire to merge your harness with another that had auto hvac. No wiring issues like me then. Still gotta buy the parts. Still gotta pull your harness and the dash etc
