Can anyone recommend an exhaust for 2011 automatic transmission? I don't want something that sounds dumb tho. Nothing too loud either. Just a step up from stock, nothing crazy.

will this fit my 07 2.5I ?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Stainles...02a433&vxp=mtr

from the little reading I've done I have found conflicting info. I know all 02-07 axlebacks are interchangeable between impreza's but I have also found that the 06-07 can use the full catback from a wrx/sti while others say this is not true.

im just looking for something a little louder but not with a 4"+ tip. I've searched locally for a wrx/sti muffler with no success so im looking for other options.

thanks.

Any recomendations on a muffler for an 09 impreza hatch? I would like to get rid of the huge factory muffler that can be seen from space and replace it with something smaller that cant be seen and can b installed with minor mods.

Yes and no. It will line up on hangers. However on 06/07 The mid pipe will not line up with the exhaust manifold. The flanges are at different angles. You have to buy a header/cat pipe combo from an 02-05. That's what I did anyway. You're correct on the axle backs fitting. I have that system and I am happy with it.

honestly, instead of spending 300 dollars, just take some 2 1/2in piping and make your own mid pipe and then just buy a muffler, it's way cheaper and it sounds just as good as something for $300.

You are correct about all axlebacks being interchangeable, bolt-on.

The 06-07 catback from an STi will need to be extended by somewhat 2 or 3 inches to fit on 2.5i. I believe the midpipe on STI is a bit shorter than on 2.5i.

If you are looking for something just a bit louder and better looking than you stock 2.5i muffler, then I think you will be more than happy with stock STI muffler from 04-07 STI. I just replaced mine 2 weeks ago and I'm extremely pleased. It will cost you 5-6 times less than the eBay one you linked here. I got mine for $50.

Just do a muffler delete. Replace with straight pipe. Isn't loud at all, and not raspy. I've done a 2 in plug and play. And also a 2.25" custom rerouting to make it straighter and they both sound great.

I am still satisfied with the 2.25 in piping. Louder, but not obnoxious loud. And very deep sounding
The stock resonator takes all of the raspiness away

A resonator is a must, or you'll sound way too raspy in the high end rpm (personal experience as of today) LOL

I have an 08 2.5i sedan

Intake: removed stock tubing, added new tube whilst keeping the torque box and stock filter box. Not sure if you'd want to call that hybrid or not.

Exhaust: TopSpeed Pro 1 header($95 at the time, now they are $260), stock 05 cat pipe($100, bought aftermarket replacement), and an SPT catback($283 after shipping)
$300 to have a shop install it all. Love the sound.

Wish there was an APEX'i or Greddy Evo2 out there. Those are super hard to find nowadays.

Hey everyone

2008 (mfg 9/07) Subaru Impreza 2.5i sedan, 2.5L with a 4EAT
K&N Apollo Intake
Invidia HS08SI4GTP (Single Outlet)

I purchased the Intake through the local NAPA I was working at, at the time
The exhaust I purchased through ECS Performance.

(I will update pricing as I just found this thread and I have had both of these mods on my car for a couple years now)

I really like the look of the intake in the engine bay as it is black and matches with the rest of the plastics (along with my GrimmSpeed Alternator Cover, Radiator Shroud and Master Cylinder Brace, which are all black. All of which were acquired after the intake)

I really like the sound of my exhaust, but lately (I live in a town with NY's with weekend homes, no offense to general residents of NY) people are taking the sound of my exhaust as either me revving up for them to go faster or just me travelling fast in general, but it's my exhaust and I love it. Living in CT we are using liquid salt to treat our roads and now after 2 winters it is starting to show some surface rust at the joints and welds. I do need to modify my muffler bracket, only in the past few months at a stop in drive will it rattle on the rear bumper, this weekend I am going to verify that the bracket has not moved but I feel that is unlikely. (At the time the exhaust was installed I added additional bracing and stiffer components throughout the car, but the noise did not start until recently)

But going back to my rust comment, I had to remove the heat shielding on my exhaust manifold as some of the welds rotted off and it was making a horrible noise. Now it has begun to rust out the flex joint in the manifold, causing a crap sound on acceleration. I have been Google searching and just started here on NASIOC, but are there any alternatives to the exhaust manifolds on my body style car? I know I utilize an EL header, but everything I seem to come across is all converting to UEL style for the sounds. Is my only option Subaru OEM? If anyone might have some insight that would be great.

So I have a 2005 2.5rs, it has borla rep uel headers, stock first cat, then straight pipe 2.25in with a resonator in the mid pipe then a magnaflow muffler. I'm wondering if I replace my one cat with the o2 censor with a straight pipe and a hole for the o2 censor if that will effect anything?
