Default finally!! prosport wideband installed?

well finally got my prosport wideband installed today. i had the car tuned about a year ago. i was told that the afr was around 11.1, however when i took the car down the road today at wot the afr was 10 or below (the gague only reads as low as 10 and high of 20). another thing i noticed is when i let off the fuel going down a hill it will hold 20 as long as i let it drift, is this right? when the wb reads 10 or 20 for 3 secs it will start blinking to warn you.

the instructions said you could calibrate the gague, but they do not go into any reasons why you should do this or even if it is necessary for the gague to read properly. do you have to calibrate these before they read properly?

I don't know how accurate the prosport wideband is. Generally widebands need to be calibrated to function properly. Prosport Gauges had a member on this board. I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions.

20-22ish is normal for letting of the throttle. what is your AFR when cruising and at idle?

well i paid more for the prosport than i would have with the aem, it better be accurate.

crusing around under light load it is between 11.5 and 13.8.

well if you don't know what your afr is how would you calibrate it to work properly? just askin bc the instructions don't really say anything about it.

my innovative lm2 wideband needs to be calibrated in open air. once it calibrates, it goes back in the downpipe and does its thing. what is your afr at idle?

ok i see what your saying. you have to have it out in the air, hold calibrate for 3 secs for it to calibrate then put it back in.

i haven't attemped the calibration yet, but right now it holds steady at 12.5 at idle. how far from the turbo did you put your sensor? i know that most people say different things. i put mine about 4-5 inches from the turbo. from what i have read if its to close the only thing that could happen is you will burn the sensor up.

idle should be 14.7ish bouncing around. that is reading very rich.

mine is about 5-6 inches after the bend in the downpipe where it levels out. this is where it was suggested to be placed by my tuner. it sounds like yours may be a little close; and yes, it will heat the sensor up too much.

well even with it being that close it still should read properly correct? i have read where peopld put them right on top of the dp and ran them for awhile witout problems. hopefully it takes awhile before they burn up because it's in there to stay now .....

i will calibrate it tomorrow and see how it goes

I think it should. Also Innovative makes a bung adapter that helps absorb some of the heat for applications where it winds up being too close and too hot.

well i calibrated my sensor today. now idle shows 13.3 and jumps to 14.0 occasionally vs yesterday reading 12.5 idle.

however still at wot the sensor still reads 10.0 all the way to redline. so i decided to take some fuel out to see if it would lean it up some, but still nothing, the tune is set for -6 and i leaned it up to -9 i think that should have been plenty to see if it would lean up some.....

it sounds like you are running very rich, if that sensor is correct. if you really are that rich you are probably getting bad gas milage. do you know what you are averaging per tank?

also what is your car reading at idle? the car's stock o2 should be pretty accurate it idle and cruising.

well when the car was tuned at txs jermaine told me that the afr was 11.0-11.1. at the time i didn't have a wb to confirm this. idle right now is 13.3 jumping to 14.0. driving around it reads pretty normal under light loads 12.5 average maybe a 13.1 time to time.

so with it reading 10 at wot i was scared to lean it up any further bc the gague my not be correctly.

I have a prosport wideband also and I'm starting to question how accurate it really is. It reads 20 when i'm cruising off the gas, 14.7 or so when the car is idling and around 10.0 when I'm at wot with no fluctuation in the number.
I'm going to recalibrate it soon but if that doesn't work I'm selling it and getting a innovate LC-1

Be careful until you know what is going on with that wideband. Are you able to read your front factory O2 sensor? What does it say at idle and crusie?

Honestly I have not calibrated it yet. but to do so you would need to pull the wideband out of the Downpipe turn the car to the on position wait for the sensor to warm up and then press the calibrate button. I'm hoping that when I calibrate it, it will work better.

thats how i calibrated mine. pulled the sensor out of the dp let the gague warm up, it started blinking 20. then i held the button for 3 secs til the gague read [2]. then it went back to reading 20, turned ign off and put the sensor back in the dp. i have done this twice just to be sure. still reads 10 at wot....wish prosport would chime in on this...

He only thing that's going to fix it getting rid of that gauge. I had Prosports and wouldn't even trust their boost gauge. I'm sure their wideband is a piece of crap just like everything else the rebrand and sell.

I would pull up a Learning View if you have access to that and see if you have a problem.
