Default SCCA Solo II/Auto-X Weekend Registration Details

SCCA Members and compeitors at our events should have received an e-mail with details of the event this evening, June 22nd, 2006. Didn't receive it? Check to see if it was filtered to your spam folder, and if not---you may not be on the Alaska RACE News mailing list the Region utilizes. Zippy has posted it at: http://www.alaskascca.com/New%20Website/Solo_School.htm

Thank you for your patience,
Cheryl

I got the email and I'm interested in going to the school; however, I will only go if there will be timing set up. Is there any way you can contact the instructors and ask if they plan on using timing.
Thanks,
Jill

Based on other schools I've gone to, timing would be a little hard to set up if there are more than one course being practiced on. Some schools I've been to have 3 sections of a course and three run groups. One had a skidpad, another, a slolam, and another a triagle all running at the same time with three differnt instructors. This is just an example. I think the emphasis would be proper technique rather than going through fast.
I think that not having timing set should not be the determining factor of if you should go or not.
BTW Amanda will be a student at the school!! Hope to see ya there!

I'll try to make it, been absent this year it seems.

Echoing Jake, timing woudl be a bear if it were set up like the previous schools I have been to, one the above mentioned trifecta, the other being 2 seperate courses, howevr at that one timing was on ONE course.

Meh, the link Cheryl posted works for me.

I don't think I accidentally deleted the email, so just giving her the heads-up that I didn't get it.

I'm looking forward to this event.

As you "will only go" if there will be timing set up--you have put yourself in a position to miss the school on Saturday. As Event Chairman for this event, I can advise--without needing to contact instructors--that the excercises for the school will not be timed.

The Region will have it's timing system there and we may be timing runs at the end of the day, yet timing is not the priority of the day. Seat time, learning to "read" a course, feedback from the instructors, and improving one's driving to "become one with the car" are the priority. And, this will all be happening at a fast pace given 6-8+ instructors and a reasonably large site that will have more than one training playground with cars heading in all directions (past events have had slaloms, houses, boxes, dots, brakes, launches--we are at a drag strip, and chalk-talk sessions) going on at the same time.

Do keep in mind that Anchorage's Thursday's session is open to SCCA members (and, of course, all those registered for the School-insert smiley face here) for those who are unable to attend Saturday's school due to work/family obligations, no timing/no participation issues, no tires, no car, etcetera.

Obiwan, did you check your spam-filtered mail as mentioned in the first post? Important, as appears gci put the message into some folks' spamarama folder. Glad to see you are not taking it personally.

And JordyB, thanks for takin' care of my request to akeruo so quickly...now, about the shelter--write me.

And Ben, glad you think the event mailer is "purdy"!

And Mavrik and all others...remember that Reg is open for SCCA members (Mav you're one) until 6/29, when open registration begins. So, if having difficulties, please send E2 kcose at gci dot net and advise him of your dlbracing.com registration difficulties--he is there to help me on this event and as the Region's Registrar!

If it made its way to the spam folder, which it probably did, it's the first time an SCCA email did that. Yeah, probably my fault, I deleted spam this morning before fully waking up.

Long week.

PS - Thanks to Ms. SCCA for setting this event up.

Others reading this thread - If you're available for this event and are considering going, make it happen. It's a long weekend, but the seat time makes it very worth it. It's like 4-5 events in one.

I plan on going. i signed up as a non-member for the whole weekend, then i un-signed my self up 'cause I read that if I did I'd be used as a "cone." and I don't wanna be used as a cone. so i'll just sign up next week.

Well, timing would have been the only feedback I would have gotten at the last school because I wasn't getting any from the instructors. I don't even think they were watching half the people run. The thing with autox is what feels fast isn't and runs that feel slow are sometimes your fastest. I think having times is the only way to actually judge how effective your changes are.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I'll save myself some time and money and just go on Sunday. However, it would have been nice to get some seat time

Maybe you should have said this when I asked you at the Bartlett race. Instead, you told me it was up to the instuctors and we would have to wait and see what there plans were.
