I dig it but I don't feel compelled to replace my current Cayman any time soon.

Sex!

Love it or hate it, Porsche seems to improve their cars with every redesign (at a higher price).

LOL - Avanti's GF drives a 3RS which basically makes him king. So a little razz here and there about the girly Cayman/Boxster is healthy...

I realize it's a great car, and this gen is almost masculine enough for less secure males like myself to consider. I normally give zero weight to styling, but when the car looks like a hot chick, I just can't see it any other way

The new Boxster and Cayman look fantastic, the pricing not so much.

I think that's the case with any Porsche. Not that it makes me want one any less.

I would say it's the relative pricing between the two that is really messed up.

If it makes you feel any better, we just got in 2 new EVO MR's.

MSRP, $55,475

Yeah, no.

Porsche, Yes.

STI + $10,000 in hookers and blow, Yes.

Corvette, Maybe.

Are they single-handedly restoring Mitsu to profitability with the EVO???

Yeah, no.
That sounds like a fully optioned Evo loaded to the roof... a solid $20,000 higher than a standard GSR.

Cayman or Boxster doesn't matter. Either one screams to the world, "I'm a **** and can't afford a 911."

or

"I'm a girl with a rich dad/sugar daddy"

Rather get a used 911 for $50k.

Great car, but I'd rather had the 911 just to have the flexibility to haul my kids around as well.

That may be true for people who buy the badge.
It isn't necessarily true for people who buy the car.

It's an MR, I'll have to run out and check the label. I just glanced at it on my way in this morning and was like "da fuq?"

I need to glance harder next time, it was only $53,000 (still, buy the Porsche)

Anyway, Touring pkg, Navi pkg, Premium pkg, ugly as hell mudflaps, I/C pipes, strut braces, ugly as hell chrome accents on the door handles, trunk lid and mirrors.

Or you could have a Porsche or a BMW......

Plus they slapped a $5,000 "market adjustment on it Worst thing is I bet it sells within the month.

I never understood this perspective. Porsche makes some of the best sports cars in the world. The type of people who buy one to advertise that they can afford a 911 just don't get it - and are probably fairly miserable people to be around.

I would happily drive one of these "chick cars".

A lot of that stuff sounds like dealer-installed, non-Mitsu accessories... so that and the markup accounts for a sizable chunk.

It is because Porsche engineered the cars that way. They built the boxster and cayman to be artificially inferior than their iconic 911. I hate that.

Any car of that caliber is a show car on the road. Fast cars on public roads are boring. Those that buy the car for anything else are usually getting a GT3 for track days and most of those I've seen lapping slower than a track-built Honda civic because the drivers are too scared of the car. You can hear them lift and not get on the throttle through every turn.

If you think they are the best, go get one. Resale value is terrible so you would have no trouble finding one that is affordable.

Is the 350z "artificially inferior" to the GT-R? I just don't understand why the concept of different models stops applying when talking about Porsche.

You apparently don't own one, so how would you know?

As to the Cayman being a "chick" car, I've never once even seen a female driving one.
