So Mazda sells a 5 door Mazda3 that everyone loves. The Mazda6, a bigger car, they refuse to give us the 5 door version. And yet, they're going to bring us a 3 door version? I don't understand this logic.
edit: I guess it doesn't say it's coming to the US, so I will hold my criticism. Last edited by kukabuka; 11-06-2012 at 10:09 AM. |

1) Are the words Saloon and Estate words which the US press uses? 2) If not, do you think this article is targeted for the US market? This article is devoid of the markets that will be getting the mentioned coupe. I agree, the wagon should come to the US before the coupe. However, I would think the coupe will sell in more numbers than the wagon, and I would think that Mazda has the numbers on number of 6 wagons vs sedans were sold here. --kC |

If they could get the fenders back inside the body, I think it would look nice.

And if it is like the rest of the mazda products I've dealt with, it should have awesome MPG for its class, great interior look & feel, excellent suspension for the price and intent, and be just an all around awesome car. I now have my eyes on this too

If they build it...
and the side doors are longer than sedan side doors... (rather than this rendering with the rear door simply erased) If it has 250+ horsepower If it has a manual or at least a dual-clutch automated gearbox. If it has AWD that actually works, and is worth the increased parts count If it is affordable. BTW... Just to clarify... the text only referred to the "four wheel drive" of the 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 as a historical reference. It did not assert that AWD would be included on a theoretical 6 coupe, MPS or otherwise. I will be visiting the Mazda dealer to seriously consider it. The Miata in my garage has been the most reliable car I've ever owned, and is lasting through the years better than either of the Subarus. Last edited by HipToBeSquare; 11-06-2012 at 02:12 PM. |

If they brought the 2 door here, it would be to increase women sales. |

Now, to keep my opinion SEPARATE from the logical portion of the discussion: hatches/wagons/any car with a huge sloped back (looks like a fat person) is fugly to me. Normal cars are for people and grocery transporting and for good gas mileage. Blending purposes too much results in stupid crap like the honda crosstour and hatchbacks , and funny you should mention "more evolved" and forget commas everywhere. |

Blending purposes produces awesome cars, like the WRX and STI wagon. Trying to make things look cool when there is no functional purpose behind it is what produces stupid crap, like the Honda Crosstour and nearly every CUV and SUV ever conceived. As long as Americans over the age of 12 prefer form over function, and their idea of form is just brainwashing from media and marketing, hatchbacks and wagons are going to struggle here. |

I wouldn't put too much stock into that chop. You can see that whoever did the drawing never even bothered to lengthen the doors. LOL good luck trying to access the rear seats with those doors.

Yeah that's a bad chop! Doors need to be lengthened and wheelbase shortened!

i'm over the age of 12, and thus can afford to own both a sedan and a truck, which can haul much more then any fwd blended car could ever dream of

I just hope this 6 coupe ends up with 2 doors. Ze Germans have really screwed that simple concept up.
Also, regarding sedan vs. hatch/wagon: The moment I realized there is some strange sedan disease amongst Americans was when my one buddy bought his first new car a while ago. He's into biking, climbing, hunting - you name the outdoorsy BS. He had a wrangler and was looking for something new under $20k. The Versa just came out. He liked it, traded the Jeep in. I said "nice, the hatch will be perfect for hauling your stuff." "Hatch!?!? Ew no, that's lame, I got the sedan." It made no sense, It's a disease. |

The new Mazda6 is sexy. I hope Mazda can build itself back up again. The new styling is very nice.
